במענה על מכתבו בו כותב אודות הסכסוך של השובי"ם. ולפלא שאינם מכירים בהחשך כפול ומכופל של הגלות עד שאין רואים אפילו דברים הבולטים, והוא, שהפתח שיוכל לבוא לידי סכסוך זה - נפתח ע"י פב"פ ... והשיג גבול רעהו באופן הכי מבהיל ... לא לבד שלא חזר מהנהגתו הרעה, אלא שכנראה עודנו מוסיף בהנהגתו זו וגם הכניס קולות באופן השחיטה, אומר שמספיק שוחט אחד, למרות שנהוג בכו"כ מקומות רבות בשנים שיהיו שני שובי"ם, ובפרט בהנוגע בשחיטת כבשים, אף שאינו צריך להתערב בזה כלל לקלקל המצב, אבל כנראה שהכל כדאי, וכמאמר המשנה דמצוה גוררת מצוה (וכסיום המשנה שם), והלך לשחוט בחדרו של אחר כו' ... ויה"ר שלא יהיו דברי בטלים ויבואו לפועל או עכ"פ להזזה.

In response to your letter in which you write about the dispute among the shochtim. It is astonishing that they do not recognize the doubled and redoubled darkness of exile to the extent that they do not even see things that are glaringly obvious. That is, the opening through which this dispute could arise was opened by blatant... and by infringing upon another's domain in the most alarming way... Not only did he not retract from his bad conduct, but apparently he continues in this behavior and has even introduced leniencies regarding the manner of shechitah, saying that one shochet is sufficient, despite it being customary in many places for many years to have two shochtim—especially regarding the slaughter of sheep—even though he need not involve himself at all to disrupt the situation. But apparently everything is worthwhile, as the Mishnah says: mitzvah goreret mitzvah (one mitzvah leads to another), and as it concludes there. He went to slaughter in another's room, etc...
May it be G‑d's will that my words will not be in vain and will come into effect or at least bring about some change.
