במענה על מכתבו, בו כותב אודות אפשריות להסתדר בארצות הברית בתור מורה בישיבה ותלמוד תורה או בתור שוחט עופות וש"ץ וכיוצא בזה.
והנה אף כי בכלל הבאים לכאן סוף סוף מסתדרים, מובן שאי אפשר לדעת כמה יארך הזמן עד שיסתדר, ואם אופן ההסתדרות תהי' משביע רצון, ובפרט לבן משפחה שמוכרח להסתדר להקדם לפי ערך, ובמילא אינו יכול לבחור ולחכות זמן יתר, וכאן כמו בכל מקום, נוגע ג"כ היכרות, כיון שבכלל רבו המועמדים על משרות הנמצאות ומוכנות, ואם יש לו בכאן מכירים אותו פנים אל פנים, כדאי שיפנה אליהם וישאלם השערתם על יסוד היכירותם אותו וכשרונותיו, באיזה מקצוע ובאיזה מקום יסתדר בקל יותר.
לאחרי כל האמור לעיל, הנה כיון שנמצא הוא במקום שמעטים ביותר אלו היכולים לפעול בהנוגע להחזקת היהדות והפצתה, ומאידך גיסא, במרץ המתאים בודאי יש לארגן קבוצה של נוער וילדים שיתחנכו בחינוך כשר (ואפשר עוד יותר מזה), הרי צריך עיון גדול, אם צריך לברוח מן המערכה, ובפרט שפרנסתו הגשמית והרוחנית לעת עתה מסודרים הם במקומו עתה.
בקשר עם זה מענין אותי לדעת מצב היהדות במאנילא ות"ח על ידיעות מפורטות בזה.

In response to your letter, in which you write about the possibility of settling in the United States as a teacher in a yeshivah or Talmud Torah, or as a poultry shochet and shaliach tzibbur (prayer leader), and similar positions. Although generally those who come here eventually settle down, it is understood that one cannot know how long it will take until he is settled, nor if the manner of settling will be satisfactory—especially for someone with a family who must settle relatively quickly and therefore cannot afford to be selective or wait longer. Here, as everywhere else, personal connections are also important since there are generally many candidates for available positions. If he has acquaintances here who know him personally, it is worthwhile for him to approach them and ask their opinion—based on their knowledge of him and his abilities—in which profession and place he would be able to settle more easily.
After all that was said above: since you are currently in a place where very few people are able to influence the support and spread of Judaism—and on the other hand, with proper energy it is certainly possible to organize a group of youth and children who will be educated with kosher education (and perhaps even more than that)—it requires serious consideration whether you should abandon this mission. Especially since your material and spiritual livelihood is currently arranged where you are now.
In connection with this, I am interested to know about the state of Judaism in Manila. Thank you for detailed information on this.
