וכיון ששמעתי שפעמיים בשנה יש להגדיל מספר התלמידים ולעשות שינוים לטובה, אקוה שעכ"פ עתה התעסקו בזה במרץ המתאים, והרי ידוע ממרז"ל ממשל דצבי שעורו מתפשט כפי הדרוש לבשרו בהנוגע לארץ הקדושה, וה"ה גם בכגון דא.
ומ"ש אודות התנאים הקשים כו' וכו' הנה ישווה במוחו תנאי ארץ קדושה זו לכמו שהיו לכמה מאות מאחינו ברוסיא, שהעמידו דור של לומדי תורה ומקיימי מצות אף שהי' קשור זה בסכנת מות ממש על כל צעד ושעל, ומה ערך להקישוים עתה לגבי ההם, והאריכות בדבר הפשוט אין בה צורך.
וזהו ג"כ מענה לשאלתו שלו, בענין הפרטי של הדירה, שאינו רואה מוצא איך ישתפר המצב, כי כבר אמור שלכל אחד ואחד ישנה מצוה שבה צריך להיות זהיר טפי, כי היא השער לכל ענינים דתורה ומצות בדרך מל[מ]טלמ"ע, והשער להמשכת כל המצטרך לו ולב"ב בדרך מלמעלה למטה, שבנדון דידי' הוא ענין עבודתו בחינוך על טהרת הקדש במוסד כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע נשיא ישראל ומנהיגו העומד ומשמש בקדש ומעורר ר"ר לברכת והצלחת כל אלו העוסקים במוסדותיו, וכשהוא יעשה את שלו בעבודתו הנ"ל מבלי חשבונות תומשך לו הצלחה בעניניו בכלל וגם בענין הנ"ל אף שאין רואה לזה מקום ע"פ חשבון כי מדתו של הקב"ה מדה כנגד מדה, ויזכהו השי"ת ויצליח שיתחיל בתנועה זו תיכף ויהי' זה מבלי מניעות והעלמות.

After your long silence, your letter was finally received from the Tenth of Teves fast—may it be transformed to joy and gladness... And since I heard that twice a year there is an increase in the number of students and positive changes are made, I hope that at least this time you engaged in this with appropriate energy. It is known from our Sages, from the parable of the deer whose skin stretches as needed for its flesh regarding Eretz HaKodesh, and so too here.
As for what you wrote about difficult conditions etc., etc.—let him compare in his mind the conditions of this Holy Land to those experienced by many hundreds of our brethren in Russia, who raised a generation of Torah learners and mitzvah observers even though this involved real danger to life at every step. What comparison is there between today's difficulties and theirs? There is no need to elaborate on something so obvious.
This also answers your personal question about your apartment situation—you do not see how things could improve. It has already been said that each person has a particular mitzvah in which he must be especially careful; it serves as the gateway for all matters of Torah and mitzvos from above to below, and as the channel for drawing down everything needed for himself and his family. In your case, this is your work in education al taharas hakodesh (in purity) at the institution of my revered father-in-law, nasi Yisrael and its leader who stands and serves in holiness and arouses abundant mercy for blessing and success for all those involved with his institutions. When you do your part in this work without calculations, success will be drawn down to you generally and also regarding your specific concern—even if you see no logical way—because G‑d’s measure is measure for measure. May Hashem grant you merit and success to begin this approach immediately, without obstacles or concealments.
