Engaging Students by Having Them Speak at Farbrengen and Health Perspective

The Rebbe suggests involving students by having them speak at farbrengens, emphasizing the value of their participation. He addresses health concerns, reminding that while doctors heal, one must trust in Hashem and serve with joy, not dwelling on illness.

Shalom u'Vrachah!

In response to your letters from the 14th, 22nd, and 28th of Kislev.

I was pleased with the farbrengen held on the bright day of Yud-Tes Kislev and with how the holiday's Torah portion was explained to the students. It would have been appropriate in such cases for some of the students themselves to deliver speeches as well, in order to engage them more deeply in these matters. Even though they are usually assisted in preparing their speeches, there is still participation on their part, and the very fact that they speak is of great value.

Regarding what you wrote about your health and feeling discouraged because of it: surely you know that this is contrary to our Torah in general and Chassidus in particular. The Torah grants permission to a doctor to heal; however, at the same time a person must remember and know clearly that Hashem is the healer of all flesh and works wonders. Therefore, one should serve Him with joy and a good heart, trusting that Hashem will fulfill His promise to provide what is needed for His servant. As explained many times in Chassidus, one should not dwell at all on one's health condition or pay too much attention to how one feels—this is the doctor's concern, not the person's own concern. To elaborate further on this simple matter is unnecessary. The merit of your involvement in bringing Jewish hearts closer to our Father in Heaven will stand by you for good news regarding all of the above.

With blessings for success in your holy work and awaiting good news.

Summary

The Rebbe teaches that engaging students by letting them participate actively deepens their connection. He also stresses maintaining joy and trust in Hashem regarding health matters—one should rely on doctors but ultimately place faith in Hashem's care.
