In response to your letter from the 28th of Marcheshvan (the birthday of the Rebbe Maharash), as you requested I will mention you, your wife, and your entire family at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, at an auspicious time. Especially since we are now in the third month from the beginning of the year—the month of miracles and redemption. May it be G‑d's will that it be fulfilled in each one that he can say 'Shehecheyanu v'kiyimanu v'higiyanu lazman hazeh' (Who has granted us life, sustained us, and enabled us to reach this time) with joy and gladness of heart.

I was pleased by what you wrote about your activities in fulfilling 'When you see someone naked, clothe him,' whether seen with physical eyes or with intellectual insight. Therefore, it is surely unnecessary to remind you about the conclusion of that verse: 'And do not hide yourself from your own flesh,' meaning an increase in studying Chassidus—the inner dimension of Torah—which within Torah itself is closer to the concept of garments than to that of nourishment (see Tanya ch. 5 as explained in Kuntres Limud HaChassidus by my father-in-law, where learning Nigleh is fully understood and grasped; whereas learning Pnimiyus HaTorah deals with spiritual matters that are beyond human comprehension—see there ch. 11 onward). Surely you will not take offense at this comment which is based on our Sages' teaching: 'We only urge those who are already diligent.'

You wrote that upon receiving the sichah regarding DSHN ^[1], you contributed the amount to 'Malbish Arumim.' Although this is praiseworthy, apparently you did not look at sections 2–4 in that sichah. Perhaps for this reason you also donated afterward to the general fund. As per your suggestion enclosed is a receipt from the general fund for that organization.

I appreciated your hint regarding 'Vayaas David Shem' (David made a name), especially since David and Shem are connected—they are essentially one—as both relate to the sefirah of Malchus as explained elsewhere.
