Greetings and blessing!
Through your uncle, the distinguished Rav, the veteran Chassid, a G‑d-fearing man, distinguished and honored, etc., engaged in communal needs, R.... I was told of the state of your health, along with a request for a blessing. Without taking a vow, when I am at the holy resting place of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe, Nasi of Israel, I will mention you for an improvement in your health. It is surely unnecessary to remind you that G‑d is the One Who "heals all flesh and performs wonders," in the wording the Men of the Great Assembly set in the morning blessing; and since they set it in a blessing with G‑d's Name and kingship, although a doubt about blessings is decided leniently, surely here there is no doubt at all (like what the Alter Rebbe, author of the Tanya — a decisor in the hidden part of Torah — and of the Shulchan Aruch — a decisor in the revealed part of Torah — writes in his Iggeres HaTeshuvah, ch. 11; see there). So when you strengthen your trust in G‑d, this itself brings improvement in health, in addition to added success in the medical treatment. But the channel and vessels for this are Torah and mitzvos in general, and adding in them in a time of need and pressure in particular. Surely you will do so as suits your standing and situation, and "whoever adds, more is added to him."
Surely you will keep the three portions equal for every soul, from the institution of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe, namely: a) Saying the portion of Tehillim, as Tehillim is divided according to the days of the month, every day after Shacharis. b) A portion of study of Chumash with Rashi's commentary from the weekly Torah reading: on Sunday from the beginning of the reading to the second section, on Monday from the second to the third section, etc. [c)] And a portion of study of Tanya every day, as the Tanya is divided according to the days of the year. May G‑d grant you success.
With blessing for improved health, awaiting good news,
On behalf of the Rebbe, shlita
