Shalom u'Vrachah!
In response to your letter: First of all, you must remove your mind from such matters and be careful with immersion according to Ezra's ordinance. Study each day a lesson in the inner dimension of Torah called Ilana DeChayei (the Tree of Life), as explained in Zohar part 3, page 124b — for there is no grasp for the opposing side in it — as clarified in Igeres HaKodesh by our master the Alter Rebbe, author of Tanya (the halachic authority in the hidden Torah) and Shulchan Aruch (the halachic authority in the revealed Torah). Memorize certain chapters of Mishnayos and Tanya and the discourse at the end of Parshas Kedoshim in Likkutei Torah beginning "VeHadarta Pnei Zaken" — see there.
We are already sworn from Mount Sinai to guard and sanctify our speech; this is one of the well-known remedies for these matters. It is also known that one must guard bodily health — its clarification and purification in our times is through charity with care as above and similar means, not through fasts or mortifications. The Alter Rebbe elaborates on this at length in Igeres HaTeshuvah. If you conduct yourself as above you will surely be able to report improvement.
May it be G‑d's will that your strong connection to Chabad not be for naught (which is also hinted at in your situation), but that it should come into practical effect by conducting yourself according to the study of Chassidus and following its ways and customs in daily life. Nothing stands before willpower.
Awaiting good news and with blessings for a good inscription and sealing.
In the name of the Rebbe Shlita,
Secretary
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that overcoming troubling thoughts requires redirecting focus through daily Chasidus study, careful observance of purity practices like Mikvah immersion, guarding one's speech, maintaining health through charity rather than self-affliction, and living by Chabad teachings with determination.
