במענה על מכתבו מי"ב מנ"א, בו כותב שישנם הורים שפונים אליו בבקשה ללמד את בנותיהן מתמתיקה, פיסיקה וכו'.
הנה בודאי אופן לימודו הוא שאינו נוגע ח"ו בעניני די"ש, ואדרבה, וכידוע מאמר הרמב"ם שיכולים הם לשמש לרקחות ולטבחות, וכיון שאם הוא לא ילמד אותן יש מקום לחשש שילמדו אצל אחר ובסביבה אחרת, ולימודו יהי' באופן פרטי, הרי כדאי שישארו בסביבה המתאימה ויקבלו לימודים אלה באופן המתאים, כי בטח ישתדל לנצל את השפעתו על הנ"ל לחזקן ביראת שמים. והשי"ת יצליחו ואת זוגתו שיחיו בבריאות הנכונה ולבשר טובות בגשמיות וברוחניות.

In response to your letter from the 12th of Menachem Av, in which you write that there are parents approaching you with requests to teach their daughters mathematics, physics, etc. Certainly your method of teaching does not, G‑d forbid, touch upon matters contrary to Yiras Shomayim; on the contrary. As is known from the Rambam's statement that these subjects can serve as tools for other purposes. Since if you do not teach them there is concern they will learn elsewhere and in a different environment, and since your teaching will be private, it is worthwhile for them to remain in an appropriate environment and receive these studies in a fitting manner. Surely you will strive to use your influence on them to strengthen them in Yiras Shomayim.
May Hashem grant success to you and your wife with proper health and good news both materially and spiritually.
