במענה על מכתבו מכ"ז מנ"א שבערך עוד שבועים יכנסו לדירתם החדשה, ובודאי לכל לראש יכניסו לשם חומש תהלים סידור ותניא. ויה"ר מהשי"ת שיהי' משנה מקום משנה מזל לטובה ולברכה הן בגשמיות והן ברוחניות.
מה שכותב אודות בנו... שי' בקשר עם השאלה דלימוד לימודי חול, הנה פשוט שיש לשלול את זה במצבו עתה דכיון שהצליחו השי"ת ושוקד הוא בלימוד בישיבת תומכי תמימים... צריך להאחז בברכת השי"ת וההצלחה ולנצלם ככל היכולת ולא לשמוע להסתת היצר הרע המחפש היתרים וכוונתו לבלבל את האדם בכלל ואת הנוער בפרט מללכת בדרכי השם, ובידעו - היצה"ר - שאם יגלה כוונתו זו לא ישמעו לו במילא מתלבש באיצטלא של חשבונות של תכלית וכו' וכידוע במרז"ל כך הוא אומנתו של היצה"ר היום אומר לו כך וכו' ואשרי חלקו שבנו נמצא בד' אמות של תורה - ויראת שמים השומרים על הרוחות בלתי מצויות הנושב עתה בעולם בכלל ובארץ אשר עיני ה"א בה מראשית השנה ועד אחרית שנה בפרט ומובן גודל הזהירות המוכרחה לאלו הנמצאים בפלטרין של מלך. תקותי ששורתי אלו המעטות בכמות תספיקנה ולא רק בשבילו אלא שינצל גם השפעתו על הסביבה בכיוון זה וגדול זכות מה שמסייע להעולים בכלל ובענינים דיראת שמים בפרט להשפיע לו ברכה והצלחה בהמצטרך לו ולבני ביתו שיחיו.

In response to your letter from the 27th of Menachem Av, in which you wrote that in about two weeks you will move into your new home, surely the first things you will bring there are a Chumash, Tehillim, Siddur, and Tanya. May it be the will of Hashem that a change of place brings a change of fortune for good and blessing both materially and spiritually.
Regarding what you write about your son... sheyichyeh concerning the question of secular studies: it is obvious that this should be rejected in his current situation. Since Hashem has granted success and he is diligently studying at Yeshivas Tomchei Temimim... one must hold on to Hashem's blessing and success and utilize them as much as possible, not listening to the enticement of the yetzer hora who seeks excuses with the intention of confusing people in general and youth in particular from following the ways of Hashem. Knowing that if he - the yetzer hora - would reveal his true intention he would not be listened to, he therefore disguises himself with rationalizations of purpose and so on. As our Sages say: this is the way of the yetzer hora—today he tells him one thing, etc. Fortunate is his lot that your son is found within the four cubits of Torah—and fear of Heaven protects against unusual winds blowing now in the world generally and especially in the land upon which "the eyes of Hashem your G‑d are from the beginning of the year to its end." It is understood how great caution must be for those who dwell in the palace of the King.
I hope these few lines will suffice not only for him but also so that he will use his influence on his surroundings in this direction. Great is the merit of helping those who ascend spiritually in general and especially regarding matters of fear of Heaven; may it bring blessing and success for all his needs and those of his household.
