Shalom u'Vrachah!

In response to your letter from Thursday of Beha'aloscha, in which you write a summary of your life's events and your current situation. It is already known the instruction of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal—regarding one who serves Hashem properly—not to err regarding one's own essence, neither to the right nor to the left; that is, not to lower oneself more than appropriate and certainly not to elevate oneself more than appropriate. Therefore, what you write that you see yourself as not at all suited for avodah shebalev (service of the heart), this assumption is entirely unfounded because every Jew is connected to this since the holy Torah demands it from everyone and Hashem does not make unreasonable demands of His creations. However, regarding this too applies our Sages' ruling: 'If you did not toil and found—do not believe,' and even more so regarding this than Torah study itself. As explained in Kuntres Etz HaChaim, in our times the main opposition from the other side is about prayer even more than Torah study, as explained there.

I was pleased by what you wrote that you influence your friends and generally those you meet to bring them closer to practical avodah and fear of Heaven. The merit of this matter is great—it brings additional blessing and success in all your needs both materially and spiritually.

Regarding the honorable marriage proposals being suggested to you... In my opinion, you should also be interested in other suggestions, and over time—you will see and discern. Therefore, regarding your second question about what you should do after marriage and how to manage—there is still time to discuss this; after all, marriage is an eternal matter, so there is no need to rush or grab the first suggestion.

Regarding the spiritual state of your parents—one should try that they be recognized in their place of residence by G‑d-fearing people (and ideally by Anash), and ask those G‑d-fearing individuals to look for opportunities to influence your parents and bring them closer to our Father in Heaven.

You surely know about birthday customs: being called up for Torah reading; giving charity before Shacharit and Minchah (if the birthday falls on Shabbat then on the preceding day); an additional lesson in revealed Torah and Chassidus. May Hashem grant that this year be a year of success for you in learning Nigleh (revealed Torah) and Chassidus and in fulfilling mitzvos with hiddur (beauty).

Summary

The Rebbe teaches us not to rush into lifelong decisions like marriage but instead approach them thoughtfully. Balanced self-view, spiritual effort especially in prayer, positively influencing others, supporting family’s spiritual growth, and observing meaningful customs are all emphasized.
