Shalom u'Vrachah!
In response to your letter from the 22nd of Sivan in which you write about what you have experienced with various changes over time until now and about your current state—that although there has been improvement compared to the past, there are still several points and matters that need correction.
Rejoice in the merit and success that you are found in Yeshivat Tomchei Temimim, which was established and is directed by the Rebbe and my father-in-law the Rebbe—zatzal nevuga”m ziya—who invested their energies with self-sacrifice. Therefore, anyone present there with all his physical and spiritual faculties is a vessel to receive their blessings: that he should succeed in all he needs according to his ability—to learn, to pray, and to be meticulous in mitzvah observance with joy. If a little light dispels much darkness, how much more so does much light—and even more so the source of light (which is Chasidut: its Torah, guidance, and customs).
It is already well known that the path of fasts or even afflictions is not the way of the Baal Shem Tov—as explained in many places (including in the discourse of Yud Shevat 5713 beginning "Bati LeGani"). Especially as brought in Sefer Toldot Maharash: a Chasid’s fast means restraining oneself even for a few moments from something one desires. See also Tanya chapter 27 (34b), and in the aforementioned discourse it is also explained how essential it is to preserve health—for then bodily distractions are diminished.
When you increase all of the above—in actions along these lines—then assistance from Above will also increase so that all this will come into actual daily life.
Regarding what you wrote about rectifications etc., increase your involvement with the letters of Torah and prayer. Surely you remember by heart several chapters of Mishnayot and Tanya as well as discourses of Chasidic teachings—including "VeHadarta Pnei Zaken" at the end of Parshat Kedoshim in Likkutei Torah.
With blessings for success in Torah study, service (avodah), and acts of kindness—which are the three pillars upon which both the great world and the small world—that is man—stand.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that true Chasidic growth comes not through self-affliction but by increasing joy, learning Torah, prayer, mitzvot observance, and maintaining good health—thus becoming a vessel for blessing and positive change.
