מעת כתבי מכתבי האחרון נתקבלו מכתביהם מיום כ' כ"ד כ"ו ניסן י"ז כ"ט אייר, ה' סיון והמצורפים אליהם, והנני לענות על ראשון וכו'.
א) בטח במשך הזמן נתברר עוד יותר, עד כמה נחוץ להבטיח שלא יחסרו תלמידים בהישיבה בעתיד, ובפרט שעליית הנוער נתקטנה כ"כ וכו'.
ובמצב ההוה אפשר להבטיח את זה רק ע"י קבלת תלמידים - אף כי בכתות נפרדות - מבלי הקפדה יתירה, אף שמובן מעצמו שצריך להזהר שלא יושפל עי"ז שם הישיבה כו' וכו'.
ב) מובן ג"כ, שנוסף על הנ"ל, וזוהי אחת הכוונות והמטרות דבתי ספר הרשת, שהתלמידים הקשישים בהם יוכלו לעבור ללוד.
ג) בהמשך לזה, הנה יסוד סניפי תו"ת בעוד ערים באה"ק ת"ו - אינני רואה בזה תועלת נוספת (מלבד שאלת ההוצאות, שהרי אי אפשר לאחוז בשני הקצוות, להודיע בכל מכתב ומכתב שמצב הכספי איום ונורא כו' וכו', ולאידך גיסא להרבות בהוצאות וכנ"ל מבלי תועלת וצורך), ואם יש אפשריות לפתוח ישיבה בתור מכינה לישיבת תו"ת בלוד, הרי יש להכניס זה בתכנית הרשת, ומכמה טעמים...
ד) ובהמשך לזה, הנה גם בהשאלה ע"ד קניית בניני הישיבה: אינם כותבים מאין יהי' מוצא לכסף, כיון שגם התקציב הרגיל קשה למלאותו וכו', כן אינם כותבים מהו נוהג שאר הישיבות בנדון זה, שבודאי חלק חשוב מהם לא קנו הבנינים אלא שכרום.
ועוד, והוא העיקר - מה התועלת במה שיעברו הבנינים ממצב של שכירה למצב של קני'.
ובטח יכתבו עד"ז בהזדמנות הבאה...

Since my last letter, I have received your letters from the 20th, 24th, and 26th of Nissan, the 17th and 29th of Iyar, the 5th of Sivan and their enclosures. I am responding to the first matter mentioned, etc.
a) Surely over time it has become even clearer how necessary it is to ensure that there will not be a lack of students in the yeshivah in the future—especially since Aliyat HaNoar has decreased so much, etc. In the current situation this can only be assured by accepting students—even if in separate classes—without excessive strictness. Of course it is self-understood that care must be taken not to lower the name of the yeshivah thereby, etc., etc.
b) It is also understood that in addition to the above—and this is one of the intentions and goals of the school network—the older students there should be able to transfer to Lod.
c) In continuation: regarding establishing Tomchei Temimim branches in other cities in Eretz HaKodesh—I do not see additional benefit in this (aside from financial considerations; after all, it is impossible to hold both ends—to report in every letter that the financial situation is dire and at the same time increase expenses as above without benefit or need). If there is a possibility to open a yeshivah as a preparatory school for Tomchei Temimim Lod, then this should be included in the network’s plan for several reasons…
d) Continuing on this topic: regarding purchasing buildings for the yeshivah—you do not write where funds will come from since even meeting regular expenses is difficult, etc. Nor do you write what other yeshivos do on this matter; surely an important portion did not buy buildings but rather rented them. Furthermore—and this is most important—what benefit will there be if buildings move from rental status to ownership? Surely you will write about this at another opportunity…
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that ensuring student enrollment sometimes requires flexibility and avoiding unnecessary strictness when admitting new students—even if they must learn separately—as long as standards are maintained. Practicality and purpose should guide institutional decisions.
