Havavac"h iy"a nu"n involved with tzt"z Moreinu HaRav Natan Menachem

Shalom u'Vrachah!

I acknowledge receipt of your letter from 12 Adar Sheni as well as the additional revelation you included.

Regarding what you wrote in your letter about the debate concerning the law of the Fast of the Firstborn on Erev Pesach: Without entering into the core issue, when it comes to a Haggadah printed for the public—especially in America—the common practice is to view this as a final ruling and conclusion that should not be questioned afterward. It is well known that ultimately, action is what counts. Therefore, I have paid special attention to this matter, because in my opinion it is an error that needs correction.

Incidentally, regarding your note about what is reported concerning the righteous one from Zhidachov z"l—that there is another version in Masechet Sofrim etc.—this rumor was already completely dismissed in Sefer Divrei Torah, fifth edition, section 15 by the righteous author of Shu"t Minchat Elazar from Munkatch, who further strengthened his words in his commentary on Orach Chaim section 470. Since he lived close by and was also related to the subject of this rumor, this adds even more weight to his dismissal.

Regarding your comment about divrei Torah in Yalkut Natan and Lekach Tov in your book: In general, nowadays anything that leads to greater awe of Heaven and strengthens or beautifies mitzvah observance deserves praise for those involved. As Chavakuk said: he established everything on one principle—that of faith.

Blessings for a kosher and joyous Pesach holiday.

Summary

The Rebbe stresses that widely published rulings in Haggadahs are treated as authoritative but points out when corrections are necessary. He encourages efforts that inspire greater awe of Heaven and strengthen mitzvah observance, highlighting faith as their foundation.
