I hereby acknowledge receipt of your letter from the 25th of Shevat, which arrived on the eve of Rosh Chodesh Adar Rishon before my trip to the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal. I mentioned you and all those you wrote about for whatever is needed for each one individually. May Hashem grant that each of us will have good news to share with one another soon.

Regarding what you noted from Bava Basra 115b, which differs from the version in Megillas Taanis chapter 5 concerning the 24th of Teves: this was discussed at the farbrengen on the 24th of Teves 5712. If I obtain a transcript of that talk from that farbrengen, I will include it in this letter.

Thank you for writing that during your visit to the holy places you mentioned me for good. Each person needs an arousal of mercy in our times—especially given the doubled and redoubled darkness and various obstacles and concealments. May it also be G‑d's will that soon will be fulfilled the saying from Zohar you quoted in your letter: 'BeHai Sifra Yipkun MiGalusa' (With this book they will go out from exile), and also fulfilled will be the conclusion of this saying (and it is surprising you did not copy it in your letter; it is the word) 'with mercy.'

I was pleased to read that you are upholding my father-in-law's institution regarding studying Chumash with Rashi's commentary and reciting Tehillim. Surely you also know his institution to study a daily portion of Tanya (which was called by the Krakow rabbis immediately upon its publication 'Tanya Kadisha'), as my father-in-law himself divided it throughout the year so that at least once a year it would be completed. Since in recent weeks it was printed for the first time in America together with a lesson guide by my father-in-law, I have asked Haraha"ch vavac"h iy"a nu"n Moreinu HaRav Yehuda Shemtovkin to send you a copy, and surely you will confirm its receipt.
