במענה על מכתבו בו מבקש תיקון במה שנסע באני' כו' הנה יעשה לו קביעות בלימוד הלכות שבת והוא מובן מלבד הענין שזהו באותו דבר עפ"י המבואר ג"כ בקונטרס אחרון לרבינו הזקן בסופו להיות בקי בהלכתא רבתא לשבתא, וכן בלי נדר הנה בכל עש"ק יתן איזה פרוטות לצדקה וביום הש"ק גופא יהי' לו שיעור נוסף בלימוד פנימיות התורה היא תורת החסידות, והשי"ת יצליחו שיקויים בו האמור בהקו"א שמוחלין לו כל וכו'.

In response to your letter in which you request rectification for having traveled by ship, etc., you should establish a regular study session in the laws of Shabbat. This is understood not only because it relates to the matter itself, as also explained in the Kuntres Acharon of our master the Alter Rebbe at its conclusion—to be well-versed in the great laws of Shabbat—but also, without making a vow, every Friday you should give some coins to charity. On Shabbat itself, you should have an additional lesson in the study of the inner dimension of Torah—that is, Chassidus. May Hashem grant you success so that what is stated in Kuntres Acharon will be fulfilled for you: that all is forgiven, etc.
