Shalom u'Vrachah!

I pleasantly received your letter from the first of Miketz as well as the previous one with their enclosures, and I enjoyed reading about the schedule of classes and studies you have established in the classes under your supervision, which will surely be successful. However, it appears to be an extremely long schedule, since it ends at midnight and already at nine in the morning studies begin again. One must also pay attention to bodily health because this affects the service of the soul. I also told the Avrech... when he was here that it was necessary to find a way to relieve him of some of his teaching duties so that he would have more time to rest and renew his strength for his work.

With joy I read in both your letters that you see success in your communal activities, and as our sages say: "One who is treated well will not quickly..."—therefore my strong hope is that you will continue to see Divine Providence in your affairs tangibly, which will make your work easier and allow you to serve with greater energy, resulting in even greater accomplishments.

Regarding your request for papers for students wishing to come study at Tomchei Temimim here, I have passed their names on to the yeshiva office and they will certainly contact you. The list of students you sent me I will read at an auspicious time at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal nishmaso b'gan eden may his merit protect us, for their success in Torah study with awe of Heaven.

Concerning your personal question about a shidduch with someone from a Sephardic family: as you describe it in your letter, they are observant of Torah and mitzvos; therefore it is worthwhile to pursue this matter since they have agreed regarding growing a beard as well as covering the head. As is known about Sephardic families, family purity is observed meticulously among them. Regarding your parents' concerns: you can reassure them that in recent years several shidduchim between Ashkenazic and Sephardic families have taken place and both sides are satisfied.

May it be G‑d's will that very soon you build a Jewish home based on Torah and mitzvah as illuminated by the light within Torah—that is Chassidus—a Chassidic home in every sense.

Awaiting good news—With abundant blessings for outstanding success in all matters.

P.S. It does not seem correct what you write about delaying the wedding because you cannot yet earn enough for your livelihood; for our sages have said—as brought in Likkutei Torah at the end of Parshas Berachah—that Hashem gives a man sustenance for his wife.

Enclosed is a copy of my general letter published regarding Yud-Tes Kislev—the Festival of Redemption—whose message applies all year round; it will certainly benefit you in your matters.

Summary

The Rebbe teaches that maintaining one's health is essential for spiritual service and encourages openness toward shidduchim between Ashkenazic and Sephardic families when Torah observance is present. He reassures that material concerns should not delay building a Jewish home grounded in Chassidus.
