וידוע ביאור רבנו הזקן (ד"ה אני לדודי ודודי לי, ר"ת אלול, לקו"ת פ' ראה, לב) בענין סגולת חודש זה ע"פ משל למלך שקודם בואו לעיר יוצאין אנשי העיר לקראתו ומקבלין פניו בשדה, ואז רשאין כל מי שרוצה לצאת להקביל פניו והוא מקבל את כולם בסבר פנים יפות ומראה פנים שוחקות לכולם, כו' –
יהי' רצון שימלא השי"ת משאלות לבב כ' לטובה, בטוב הנראה והנגלה, ולראשונה – רפואתה קרובה
של
זוג' תחי', (שמסרו לי מאנ"ש שי' ע"ד המאורע ל"ע ול"ע, ולאחרי זה – ע"ד השיפור במצב בריאותה), ובסגנון הידוע יאריכו ימיהם ושנותיהם בטוב ובנעימים.

As we stand at the beginning of Elul—and it is well known the Alter Rebbe's explanation (on "Ani L'Dodi V'Dodi Li," initials Elul, Likkutei Torah Parshas Re'eh, 32) regarding the unique quality of this month through the parable of a king who, before entering the city, is met by its people in the field; then anyone who wishes may go out to greet him and he receives everyone with a pleasant countenance and shows a smiling face to all, etc.—may it be G‑d's will that He fulfill your heart's desires for good, with visible and revealed good. First and foremost—a speedy recovery for your wife (as I was informed by Anash about the event concerning her health situation; and after that—about her improvement), and in the well-known phrase: may their days and years be lengthened in goodness and pleasantness.
I have merited to receive another new volume from my revered father-in-law as well as some letters I received from him in due time. With this mail I am sending them to you, hoping you will receive them before Rosh HaShanah.
