, האָט זיך אָנגעפאַנגען באַ יציאת-מצרים. די כוונה און דער תכלית פון יציאת-מצרים איז דאָך געווען צו באַקומען די תורה אויף דעם באַרג סיני

את העם ממצרים תעבדון את האלקים על ההר הזה). איז ווען משה רבינו האָט דערציילט די אידן אין מצרים וואָס דער תכלית פון זייער באַפרייאונג איז, האָבן זיי תיכף נאָך זייער אַרויסגיין פון מצרים אָנגעהויבן ציילן די טעג און די וואָכן צו קבלת-התורה. צוזעענדיג מיט וואָס פאַראַ תשוקה אידן ציילן די טעג צו קבלת התורה, האָט דער אויבערשטער אונז געגעבן די מצוה פון ספירת העומר.
ווי אַלע סיפורים פון אונזערע חכמים ז"ל, האָט אויך דער סיפור וועגן ספירת העומר אַ וויכטיגע און שטענדיגע באַדייטונג פאַר אַלע אידן, אין אַלע צייטן, און אין אַלע ערטער. און דאָס איז: ווי טייער אַ איד דאַרף שעצן די תורה, און מיט וואָס פאַראַ תשוקה, התמדה, און שקידה דאַרפן אידן לערנען תורה און מקיים זיין איהרע מצוות.
און דאָס איז דאָך די אויפגאַבע פון "אהלי תורה": איינצופלאַנצן אין די קינדער די דערמאָנטע תשוקה, התמדה, און שקידה פאַר תורה און מצוות, וואָס זאָל זיך אויסדריקן אין זייער הנהגה אין טאָג-טעגלעכן לעבן.
מיר געפינען זיך איצט אין די טעג פון צוגרייטונג צו קבלת התורה, ווען יעדער איד, מאַן און פרוי, דאַרף יעדן טאָג שעפּן אַ פאַרגרעסערטע מאָס פון דעם קוואַל פון אהבת התורה והמצוות וואָס ציט זיך צו אונז בירושה פון אונזערע אבות, און אויסניצן דאָס בנוגע זיך און ספּעציעל בנוגע די קינדער – אייגענע קינדער און אויך אַלע קינדער, לויטן פירוש פון אונזערע חכמים:

To all participants in the annual dinner for the Chinuch institution "Oholei Torah" — may Hashem be upon them and grant them life.
Shalom u'Vrachah!
The month of Iyar — in which on its eleventh day the annual gathering for the Chinuch institution al taharas hakodesh Oholei Torah takes place — is distinguished from all other months by the fact that every day of this month has the mitzvah of Sefirat HaOmer.
The concept of Sefirat HaOmer, as our sages of blessed memory recount, began at Yetzias Mitzrayim. The intention and purpose of leaving Egypt was to receive the Torah at Mount Sinai (BeHotzi'acha Es HaAm MiMitzrayim Ta'avdun Es HaElokim Al HaHar HaZeh — "When you bring out the people from Egypt, you will serve G‑d on this mountain"). So when Moshe Rabbeinu told the Jews in Egypt that this was the purpose of their liberation, they immediately began counting the days and weeks to Kabbalas HaTorah as soon as they left Egypt. Seeing with what longing Jews counted the days to receiving the Torah, Hashem gave us the mitzvah of Sefirat HaOmer.
Like all stories from our sages of blessed memory, so too does the story about Sefirat HaOmer have an important and constant meaning for all Jews, at all times and in all places. And that is: how dearly a Jew must value Torah, and with what longing, diligence, and perseverance Jews must study Torah and fulfill its mitzvos.
This is precisely the mission of Oholei Torah: to plant in children this aforementioned longing, diligence, and perseverance for Torah and mitzvos so that it will be expressed in their conduct in daily life.
We are now in days of preparation for Kabbalas HaTorah when every Jew — man and woman — should draw each day an increased measure from the wellspring of love for Torah and mitzvos which we inherit from our forefathers. This should be utilized both regarding oneself and especially regarding children — one's own children as well as all children according to our sages' interpretation: "uShinantam LeVanecha" (You shall teach them to your children) — these are your students (not only your biological children), meaning students in chederim and yeshivos.
And when it comes to children, it is human nature to want them to receive only the best and in maximal measure. Therefore it is hoped that during these auspicious days everyone will respond and come to help Oholei Torah to the fullest extent possible, in accordance with the mitzvah of "uSefartem Lachem" (You shall count for yourselves), through which one brings light and purity into one's own life, into one's entire household, and into Klal Yisrael both materially and spiritually together.
