To all participants in the 27th annual dinner of Merkaz HaYeshivos Tomchei Temimim Lubavitch, may Hashem be upon them and grant them life.

With this I send my greetings and blessing to the esteemed activists, honored guests, and all participants in the annual celebration of Merkaz HaYeshivos Tomchei Temimim Lubavitch.

This year, the annual celebration has been set for the first day of a week that holds special significance for Lubavitch institutions, and therefore also for all friends and supporters of the Lubavitcher Yeshiva. This is the week of the yahrzeit of my revered father-in-law, Admor zatzal (may his merit protect us), who was the founder of Lubavitcher Yeshivos in America.

The concept of a yahrzeit is to renew and strengthen one's connection with the one whose yahrzeit it is through matters of goodness and holiness that had deep and inner meaning in his life in this world. In doing so, one brings true nachas ruach (pleasure) to his soul—the one whose memory is being preserved and sanctified; at the same time, one merits a great merit by uniting with his spirit, continuing his holy work in an even stronger measure.

It is well known what a central role Lubavitcher Yeshivos played in my father-in-law's life, and with what self-sacrifice he strove to ensure their existence and development. The greatest nachas ruach that can be brought to his soul is to help his institutions fulfill their mission to the fullest extent—both quantitatively by increasing opportunities to accept more students, and qualitatively by strengthening and deepening the education of these students in the spirit of Torah with fear of Heaven and self-sacrifice.

Every additional student in the Lubavitcher Yeshiva is not only an achievement for that student alone but also an achievement for generations—for through him a new Jewish generation is established, which over time becomes a Torah-true Jewish home.

Additionally, there is the special quality of the Lubavitch educational approach—to instill in students a deep sense of responsibility and self-sacrifice for another Jew, in accordance with the great principle in Torah: VeAhavta LeReiacha Kamocha ("Love your fellow as yourself") as a foundation for daily life.

I hope that each participant—and all friends of the Lubavitcher Yeshiva in general—will make a special effort to ensure this year's dinner's success in every respect. The merit of the one whose yahrzeit it is—the founder of the Yeshiva—will surely stand by everyone to be blessed by our Father in Heaven from His full, open, holy, and broad hand—in both material and spiritual matters together.
