מכתבי הקודמים בטח הגיעו לידי כ', וכן בודאי קבל הפ"ש ע"י האורחים שבקרו כאן בשעתם.
לא אוכל להעלים מכ' כי נצטערתי רבות להידיעה שכ' לא הי' נוכח אישית באסיפת הפתיחה של ה"כנסי' הגדולה החמישית". ואף שבודאי היו טעמים ונימוקים בדבר, אבל העובדה במקומה נשארת.
ובעמדנו ערב ראש חודש אלול, דבר בעתו הוא להעלות על הזכרון דברי אדמו"ר הזקן בענין סגולת ימי חודש הרחמים, שהוא בדוגמת מלך שקודם בואו לעיר יוצאין אנשי העיר לקראתו ומקבלין פניו בשדה ואז רשאין כל מי שרוצה לצאת להקביל פניו והוא מקבל את כולם בסבר פנים יפות כו', כמבואר בלקו"ת פ' ראה, לב, ב.
ויהי רצון שגם ענין האמור יתמלא כלשון רבנו הזקן - בסבר פנים יפות, למעלה, וממילא נמשך גם למטה ספ"י.
ומענין לענין בעניני מלכו של עולם, אביע תקותי שבדברי הברכה שישמיע כ' לקראת ראש השנה הבע"ל יזכיר בפירוש שם שמים, אשר לו הכל יכתירו וממנו כל הברכות (כולל גם סליחת כ' על הערתי זו).

My previous letters have surely reached you, and you have certainly received the regards through the guests who visited here at that time.
I cannot conceal from you that I was greatly pained to learn that you were not personally present at the opening session of the "fifth great gathering." And even though there were surely reasons and explanations for this, nevertheless, the fact remains.
As we stand on the eve of Rosh Chodesh Elul, it is timely to recall the words of Admor HaZaken regarding the special quality of the days of the month of mercy: it is like a king who, before entering the city, is met by its people in the field; then anyone who wishes may go out to greet him, and he receives everyone with a pleasant countenance, as explained in Likkutei Torah Parshat Re'eh 32b.
May it be G‑d's will that this matter too be fulfilled—just as our Rebbe HaZaken says—with a pleasant countenance above, and consequently also below in a pleasant manner.
On another note concerning matters of the King of the world: I express my hope that in your words of blessing for the coming Rosh Hashanah you will explicitly mention Heaven's name—for to Him all crown themselves and from Him come all blessings (including also your forgiveness for my remark here).
With esteem and honor and with blessings for a ketivah v'chatimah tovah for a good and sweet year.
