Honored participants of the Tanya study class at the Shoneh Halachos synagogue in the city of Netanya in our holy land, may it be rebuilt and established by our righteous Moshiach soon—may Hashem be upon you for life. Shalom u'Vrachah!
It was with pleasure that I received the news that you have completed the first part of Sefer Tanya Kadisha, and certainly, following the well-known style of 'immediately beginning upon completion,' you have already started the second part—Shaar HaYichud VehaEmunah (and its introduction).
As is expressed at the conclusion of the first part: Ki Hashem Elokecha Esh Ochlah Hu ("For Hashem your G‑d is a consuming fire") as explained elsewhere. Perhaps it can be said that this refers to the discourse Ki BaYom HaZeh Yechaper (Likkutei Torah at the beginning of Parshat Acharei), which uses the analogy of a consuming fire: just as fire cannot be called light or fire at all and does not illuminate below unless it is attached to something physical—and it also 'consumes' and destroys it—so too regarding Hashem (Who becomes) your Elokecha (your strength and vitality), Who illuminates and is revealed below specifically through fulfilling all 613 mitzvos, as briefly explained also at the end of chapter 53, which concludes the first part.
The true fulfillment of mitzvos is through love, which is the root and foundation for fulfilling all positive commandments (which also includes fear, which is the root and foundation for fulfilling) all prohibitions—the service of Aharon who loves (and even draws down love to) all creatures, even those who are simply creations.
May it be Hashem's will that this great study will lead to practical observance of mitzvos; as stated by Baal HaTanya, Rabbeinu HaZaken: each person should go on a straight path as he taught us from his ways and let us walk in his paths forever. This applies both in service of Hashem in spiritual matters and in worldly matters—may there be found even more blessing from Hashem, with those closest receiving blessing first.
With honor and blessing.
Summary
The Rebbe encourages immediate continuation in Torah study after completing a section. He emphasizes that true mitzvah observance must be rooted in love and wishes that learning leads to action—bringing blessings both spiritually and materially.
