With pleasantness and joy I read the details of your gathering, in which you are already organizing a program and practical work. Although happiness fills my heart on one side, there is also sadness on the other, as many are missing from the list of participants. Still, I hope that over time these too will join you, for the Holy One did not find a vessel that holds blessing except for peace. Of course, they should join without you giving up on essential matters.

At this time I wish to remind you about the bright and clear day of Chai Elul approaching, which you will surely utilize with energy and vitality—qualities unique to youth—to spread the teachings of the Baal Shem Tov and the Alter Rebbe, whose birthdays—both spiritual and physical—are on this very day. Spread this idea in ever-wider circles, even among those who are currently distant from our environment.

It is known the saying of my father-in-law, the Rebbe (may his merit protect us), regarding the difference between "the worldly ones" and Chabad: Amongst great men of "the worldly ones," they would sit in their homes and those who desired Torah would come to them to benefit from their Torah's radiance. In contrast, from the Baal Shem Tov onward, they established a new order: The Baal Shem Tov himself would travel from place to place—from city to city and village to village—and spread the teachings of the living G‑d (see Sefer HaSichos Summer 5700, last day of Pesach at the daytime meal).

b) Arrange a work plan for how to utilize the upcoming month of Tishrei—again through traveling to various places in Eretz Yisrael or during the High Holy Days or during Sukkot—the main thing being that it should be organized so that there will be greater joy and a larger number of men, women, and children participating.

c) Special attention is required for our brethren from Yemen, Persia, etc., who on one hand have no knowledge yet of Chassidus—its teachings or ways—but on the other hand are most receptive due to their fear of Heaven and connection with Kabbalah and faith in tzaddikim; they are ready to accept anything shown to them from Toras HaChassidus as inherited by us from our holy Rebbeim (may their merit protect us).

I am interested in knowing details about your proposed program in this regard. It is most appropriate that you consult about these matters with the directors of Agudas Chassidei Chabad. Although much responsibility rests upon Young Chabad due to all this work requiring much energy and vitality because of travel demands, nevertheless—as our Sages say: 'The destruction by elders is building,' how much more so is building by elders truly building.

At present I do not have sufficient means at hand to cover all expenses related to this work; however, since my desire is strong to participate even from here in such an elevated matter—and since it is not possible for several reasons to send money directly—I am enclosing here a certificate for packages; our Sages said: 'Equivalent value is like money.'

In a separate envelope I am sending you an excerpt from a talk given on Shabbat Mevarchim Elul as well as a booklet about public activism by Chabad just published—all sent via airmail. Please confirm receipt.
