Shalom u'Vrachah!

The words of the Mitteler Rebbe are well known regarding the advantage that baalei batim (businesspeople) have over those who dwell in tents (full-time Torah scholars) when it comes to perceiving G‑dliness tangibly—specifically, seeing Divine Providence in a palpable way.

If, in those earlier generations, not every dweller in the tent perceived Divine Providence so tangibly, then in our generation—the era preceding Mashiach, the last generation of exile and a time of doubled and redoubled darkness—at the same time, it is also a generation in which the wellsprings have been revealed: the wellsprings of Chassidus, the teachings of the Baal Shem Tov, general Chassidus, and subsequently Chabad Chassidus. As stated in Zohar: 'the gates of wisdom above and fountains of wisdom below will be opened... until even teachers of the world will find hidden secrets of wisdom,' so even those who dwell in tents now see Divine Providence with their physical eyes.

May it be G‑d's will that from now on they will discern and also see only matters of visible and apparent good as Divine Providence. And as is obvious and simple—success in matters of Torah and mitzvos, imbued and illuminated with chassidic light and vitality, both for oneself and for one's fellow Jews.

Summary

This letter teaches that our generation is uniquely privileged to perceive Divine Providence clearly—even those dedicated solely to Torah study. The spread of Chassidus has opened new spiritual awareness for all, leading to success in Torah, mitzvos, and chassidic living.
