במענה למכתבו מיום השני, אין וועלכען איר שרייבט וועגען באקענען זיך מיט תורת חסידות חב"ד, און וואס ניט ווייניגער וויכטיג, אירע הדרכות והנהגות ביז צום טאג טעגליכען לעבען, וכפסק המשנה המעשה הוא העיקר.
ס'וואלט גוט געווען, צו באקענען זיך צוערשט מיט דעם אינהאלט פון די לקוטי דבורים - געזאמעלטע שיחות בא פערשידענע געלעגענהייטען - פון כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, פון וועלכע מ'קען ארויסהאבען בהנוגע צו חסידות און דעם לעבען פון חסידים ע"פ תורת והדרכת החסידות.
און אזוי ווי ס'איז ניט גלייך, דאס לייענען אין ספרים צום ריידן מינדליך (ווי דער אלטער רבי דריקט זיך אויס אין זיין הקדמה צו ספר התניא), וואלט גוט געווען איר זאלט זיך נעהנטער באקענען מיט די ליובאוויטשער יונגע לייט אין באסטאן, און שמועסן מיט זיי, וואס זיכער קענט איר אייניגע פון זיי, און דורך די קענט איר אויך באקאנט ווערען מיט די אנדערע.
ויהי רצון איר זאלט ערפילען אייער גוטע החלטה וועגען וועלכער איר שרייבט אין אייער בריף, און טאן דאס, אזוי ווי אלע ענינים פון יהדות תורה ומצות, מתוך שמחה וטוב לבב, וואס דאס דינט אויך אלס צינור וכלי צו די ברכות פון השם יתברך אין דעם וואס מ'נויטיגט זיך, אליין און די פאמיליע.

In response to your letter from Monday, in which you write about becoming acquainted with the teachings of Chabad Chassidus, and what is no less important, its guidance and conduct down to daily life—as the Mishnah rules: action is the main thing.
It would be good first to become familiar with the content of Likkutei Dibburim—collected talks given on various occasions by my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal—from which one can derive much regarding Chassidus and the life of chassidim according to the teachings and guidance of Chassidus.
And since reading books is not quite the same as speaking directly (as the Alter Rebbe expresses in his introduction to Sefer HaTanya), it would be good for you to become more closely acquainted with the Lubavitcher young men in Boston and converse with them. Surely you know some of them already, and through them you can also become acquainted with others.
May it be G‑d's will that you fulfill your good resolution about which you wrote in your letter, and do so—as with all matters of Judaism, Torah, and mitzvos—with joy and gladness of heart. This itself serves as a channel and vessel for the blessings of Hashem Yisbarach in all that is needed for yourself and your family.
Blessings for good news also regarding what we discussed in our conversation—and for a joyous Chanukah.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that learning Chabad Chassidus should be both through study (especially Likkutei Dibburim) and personal connection with chassidim. Approaching this path with joy opens channels for G‑d's blessings in all areas of life.
