Shalom u'Vrachah!
After the longest break, I received your letter from before Chanukah and will begin by responding to the start of your letter, thanking you for your impressions from the farbrengen on the day of good tidings, the auspicious day of Yud Tes Kislev in Kfar Chabad—founded and led by my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal—which brought me much satisfaction and pleasure. I hope and pray that the impression of the farbrengen will match its purpose: to have an effect regarding matters of Judaism, Torah, and mitzvos—even in daily life throughout the year.
Regarding what you wrote about disagreements among doctors concerning your wife’s treatment: it is known that when there is doubt about any surgery whatsoever, refraining from action is preferable. May the Healer of all flesh Who works wonders heal her and strengthen her in a fitting way and fulfill all your heart’s desires for good.
About what you wrote regarding a new home—in general it is understood that this is appropriate and correct. The Jewish custom and saying is itself Torah: "Meshaneh makom meshaneh mazal letovah u'livrachah" (Changing place changes fortune for good and blessing), especially since this is based on explicit sayings of our Sages. However, this applies if your wife willingly agrees to move to this new home without any pressure; then it is good. But do not pressure her—just explain this once or twice as above.
At an auspicious time you and all those you write about will be mentioned at the holy resting place of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal. May it be G‑d’s will that you share good news in these matters. Of course—and it goes without saying—continue activities to strengthen Judaism and spread it further, including spreading its inner teachings until they reach even further out.
Blessings for good news and a happy Chanukah.
Summary
The Rebbe encourages sharing positive spiritual experiences with others, advises careful consideration in medical decisions with trust in G‑d’s healing, supports moving homes if done harmoniously within the family, and emphasizes ongoing efforts to strengthen Judaism.
