Shalom u'Vrachah!
Your letter from the 27th of Sivan with its enclosure was received, and while I was at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal (may his merit protect us), I mentioned you in accordance with the content of your letter.
Regarding what you wrote about what is explained in Likkutei Torah Bamidbar (15d) about there being four senses and not five—if you wish to say that this is not a halachic ruling, it can be explained that here it emphasizes the enclothing according to temperament and nature, which is not so with the sense of touch (see also the explanation of foreign words at the end of part one of Moreh Nevuchim under "sense." Also note Zohar III 229b and its commentaries there).
To your note on Likkutei Torah Parshas Shelach (there 49c) regarding the superiority of wisdom over the skull—even though what is drawn from mochin stumin passes through the skull—the matter is that it passes through or even enclothes itself in light, but this does not necessarily mean it changes because of this. It is like a curtain through which sunlight passes and similar examples.
With blessings for a good Shabbos and a good new month—may you merit both Shabbos and Rosh Chodesh together.
Summary
The Rebbe clarifies subtle points in Likkutei Torah about how spiritual concepts are transmitted and perceived, emphasizing that passage or enclothing does not imply change—just as sunlight passes through a curtain unchanged. Deep study leads to greater understanding.
