Shalom u'Vrachah!

In response to your letter from Friday.

Regarding what you wrote about your ailment, you should consult a medical expert in the field, as many treatments and medicines have been developed in recent years and surely among them are those suitable for you. The Torah has given permission to the doctor to heal.

To your question about whether to change your pronunciation so that it matches that of our Sephardic brethren: you do not explain your reason for suddenly wanting to change this. You mention some places where they lean toward another pronunciation—but if there is no special reason for changing the pronunciation or something similar, it is also appropriate here to say: "Do not change the custom of your fathers," and each river follows its own course (i.e., each community its own custom).

On this occasion it is my duty (and privilege) to urge you about the absolute necessity to set fixed times for studying the inner dimension of Torah which in our generation has been revealed in the teachings of Chassidus—especially since from long ago our Sephardic brethren have maintained this study.

Blessings for good news in all the above.

In the name of the Rebbe shlita, Mazkir

P.S. It is proper that your tefillin be checked to ensure they are kosher according to halachah, and also that you keep the ancient custom of reciting each day after morning prayers the daily portion of Tehillim as divided by days of the month.

Summary

The Rebbe teaches to seek expert medical advice when needed, maintain ancestral customs unless there is a compelling reason to change, and prioritize regular study of Chassidus. He also reminds about checking tefillin and reciting daily Tehillim as important spiritual practices.
