Shalom u'Vrachah!

In response to your letter from the 5th of Elul, in which you write about the order of study—and it is somewhat surprising, since I suggested that the Gemara study should be in those tractates that are practically relevant, and how good it is in daily life, as this automatically resolves the question you wrote about. Yet in your letter you mention a different tractate.

It is likely that the explanation is that you are not the one choosing the place of study; however, you also do not mention your efforts regarding this. Such effort as mentioned should be supported also for pedagogic reasons whose content is also as above—that tractates from Seder Moed and similar are in laws that are needed, etc. See also Hilchos Talmud Torah by our Rebbe HaZaken regarding the order of study for one who does not have much time available to him, as well as in the introduction by the sons of our Rebbe HaZaken to Shulchan Aruch about the order of study and several instructions from great leaders of Israel on such matters.

It is worthwhile to consult with the elders of Anash on this after explaining to them that we are not speaking about a yeshiva where there are many hours for study, etc.

Regarding what you wrote about studying by rote—my hope is that by adding into your learning a schedule of responsa and similar texts, within a not long period this matter of compulsion will be nullified and there will be ongoing growth in these matters—especially if you can actualize your studies through examples from stories found in Likkutei Dibburim and sichos, etc.

May it be G‑d's will that you share good news in all the above and see good fruit from your efforts. May you merit and succeed to inspire others as well in matters of Torah and mitzvos; indeed, the merit of the many assists your efforts and toil in this.

Blessings for good tidings and a good inscription for the new year,
In the name of the Lubavitcher Rebbe shlita,
Secretary
