במענה למכתבו מד' כסלו, בו כותב אשר הוא בגיל י"ז וחצי שנה, ורוצה להמשיך בלימוד וגם לאחרי החתונה, אבל דואג כיון שהוצאות דירה לאחרי החתונה עולות בדמים מרובים, ולכן נולדה סברא, שיסע לחו"ל וכו'.
ומובן שלפלא הכי גדול הדאגה שלו עתה איך יסתדר לאחרי החתונה, ודאגה עד כדי כך שמבלבלת להתמדה ושקידה בלימודו!
ואם את דעתי ישאל, הרי ילמוד באחת הישיבות אשר על טהרת הקדש באה"ק ת"ו בהתמדה ושקידה הכי גדולה, ובסילוק כל המחשבות המבלבלות מלימוד התורה ומעבודת ה' בעבודת התפלה. ומובן וגם פשוט שבסדרי הלימוד צ"ל שיעור קבוע בלימוד פנימיות התורה שבדורנו נתגלתה בתורת החסידות [אשר בפרט בתקופתנו הכרח חיוני הוא לימוד זה, ובקביעות לא רק בזמן אלא והוא העיקר קביעות גם בנפש, וכמבואר בארוכה בקונטרס עץ חיים לכ"ק אדמו"ר מוהרש"ב נ"ע מיוסד על מאמרי רז"ל בכמה מקומות, ועיין דברים נפלאים ומבהילים בהקדמת רבנו חיים וויטל תלמידו של האריז"ל ונדפס בההוספות לקונטרס האמור], וההתמדה ושקידה בלימוד האמור יוסיפו ג"כ בברכות השי"ת בכלל ובפרט בהמצטרך לו ולכל אלו שכותב אודותם, אשר בעת רצון יזכרו על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע.
בודאי יודע משלשת השיעורים דחומש תהלים ותניא הידועים, ועכ"פ ישמור עליהם מכאן ולהבא.

In response to your letter from the 4th of Kislev, in which you write that you are seventeen and a half years old and wish to continue your studies even after marriage, but are worried because the cost of housing after marriage is very high. Therefore, you have considered traveling abroad, etc. It is truly astonishing that you are so concerned now about how you will manage after marriage—so much so that this worry is disturbing your diligence and focus in your studies!
If you ask my opinion: you should learn in one of the yeshivas that are purely holy in Eretz Yisrael with the greatest diligence and effort, removing all distracting thoughts from your Torah study and service of Hashem through prayer. It is also clear and simple that your study schedule must include a fixed time for learning the inner dimension of Torah as revealed in Chassidus [especially in our times this study is vitally necessary, and the main thing is not only a fixed time but also a fixed place in your soul, as explained at length in Kuntres Etz Chaim by the Rebbe Rashab of blessed memory, based on many sayings of our Sages; see also the wondrous and awe-inspiring words in the introduction by Rabbeinu Chaim Vital, student of the Arizal, printed as an addition to the aforementioned kuntres].
Diligence and effort in this learning will also increase G‑d's blessings for you generally and especially for what you need and for all those about whom you write. At an auspicious time they will be mentioned at the holy resting place of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal.
You surely know about the three well-known daily lessons—Chumash, Tehillim, and Tanya—and at least from now on make sure to keep them.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that worries about future livelihood should not disturb one's Torah study. Instead, one should focus on diligent learning—especially Chassidus—in a holy environment. Trusting in G‑d's blessings brings both spiritual growth and material support.
