נבהלתי להשמועה מאיזה ימים ע"ד האסון נורא שקרה להם בפטירת הרה"ח אי"א נו"נ בעל מדות ורב פעלים מלאכתו מלאכת שמים מו"ה ישראל יצחק זעליג ע"ה.
ויהי רצון אשר מכאן ולהבא לא ידעו עוד מכל עגמ"נ ח"ו, ואך טוב וחסד בטוב הנראה והנגלה ימצאום תכה"י.
וכיון שבנחמות נכללו עניני תקון על העבר, הסדר בזה שצ"ל בכפלים, הנה יהי רצון שיהי' זה גם בנדון שלהם, ויתרבו הענינים של טוב וענג הלוך והוסיף (וכמבואר במ"א אשר ענין הכפלים בהנ"ל הוא בהרבה יותר מכפלים בכמות).
נעם לי לקרות במכתבו ע"ד עבודתו בהוראה בהישיבה אשר בכפר חב"ד, אשר שם צוה ה' את הברכה, ויהי רצון אשר יתעסק בזה במסירה ונתינה הכי גדולה אשר גם עי"ז נחת רוח וזכות הכי גדול לנשמתו של הנפטר, ובודאי שישמש זה לתוספת ברכה והצלחה בכל עניניו ובעניני המשפחה בכלל.

In response to your letter from Rosh Chodesh Kislev. I was shocked by the news from several days ago about the terrible tragedy that befell you with the passing of Haraha"ch iy"a nu"n, a man of character and many deeds whose work was heavenly—Moreinu HaRav Yisrael Yitzchak Zelig of blessed memory. May it be G‑d's will that from now on you should know no more distress, G‑d forbid, and only revealed good and kindness should find you speedily in our days.
Since consolation also includes rectification for the past, and this order must be doubled, may it be G‑d's will that this also apply in your case—that matters of goodness and delight increase ever more (as explained elsewhere that "doubling" here means much more than just twice as much quantitatively).
I was pleased to read in your letter about your work in teaching at the yeshiva in Kfar Chabad—where Hashem commanded blessing—and may it be G‑d's will that you engage in this with utmost devotion and giving. Through this there will also be great nachas ruach (pleasure) and merit for the soul of the departed. Certainly this will bring increased blessing and success in all your affairs and those of your family in general.
