במענה למכתבו מג' ניסן, בו שואל:
א) הקדיש זמנו ללמוד תוה"ק, ובמילא אין לומד כדבעי השפה האנגלית, ושואל אם נכון סדר זה, והוא בן י"ז שנה.
בודאי שנכון הדבר, והרי תורתנו הק' נקראת תורת חיים לא רק ע"ש החיים בעולם הבא אלא גם על החיים בעולם הזה, ז.א. שעל ידי תופסת התמדה ושקידה בלימוד התורה (וגדול תלמוד שמביא לידי מעשה, הוא קיום המצות) הרי זה הכנה הכי נכונה ומתאימה בחיים של פרנסה כשיבוא הזמן, ובודאי ימצא אותיות מתאימות איך להסביר הדבר להוריו שיחיו.
ב) כיון שלכל דבר צריכים סייעתא דשמיא, הנה מהנכון אשר בכל יום חול קודם תפלת הבקר יפריש איזה מטבע לצדקה, וכל יום גם בש"ק ויום טוב לאחרי תפלת הבקר, יאמר השיעור תהלים חדשי - כמו שנחלק התהלים לימי החדש - ומה טוב שישמור גם על שיעורי חומש ותניא הידועים.

בשאלתו השני' שמזמן שינו שמו מ... ל... ושואל אם להחזיר השם ליושנו, - לפלא הדבר - כי למה לשנות שמו דעתה שהוא בלה"ק.
In a letter dated the 13th of Nissan, 5718, the Menachem Mendel Schneerson responds to a 17-year-old who had written that he devotes his time entirely to the study of Torah and therefore has not properly learned the English language. He asks whether this approach is correct, even though it comes at the expense of acquiring worldly knowledge.
The Rebbe responds unequivocally that this path is indeed proper. He explains that the Torah is called Toras Chayim—a Torah of life—not only because it grants life in the World to Come, but because it provides life in this world as well. Through increased diligence and devotion in Torah study, and especially through the fulfillment of mitzvos that result from that study, one establishes the most fitting preparation for future livelihood.
The Rebbe reassures him that when the appropriate time comes, he will succeed in earning a living. The proper path to guarantee a successful life is through Torah, which itself provides the foundation and blessing for all aspects of life. He adds that the student will surely be able to find the right words to explain this approach to his parents.
The Rebbe continues that since success in all matters requires Divine assistance, one should strengthen this connection. He advises giving a coin to tzedakah each weekday before morning prayers, and reciting the daily portion of Tehillim after prayers every day, including Shabbos and Yom Tov. Additionally, it would be beneficial to maintain the well-known daily study portions of Chumash and Tanya.
The Rebbe concludes with a blessing for good news, for success in Torah study with Yiras Shamayim, and for proper observance of mitzvos, along with wishes for a Kosher and joyous Pesach.
In a postscript, the Rebbe addresses an additional question regarding changing back to a previous non-Jewish name. The Rebbe expresses surprise at the question and firmly advises against it, emphasizing that one should retain a name in Lashon HaKodesh.

במכתב מיום י"ג ניסן תשי"ח, הרבי משיב לבחור בן 17 שכתב כי הוא מקדיש את זמנו ללימוד התורה ולכן אינו יודע היטב את השפה האנגלית, ושואל האם הנהגה זו נכונה.
הרבי משיב בוודאות שכן. התורה נקראת תורת חיים, לא רק לחיי העולם הבא, אלא גם לחיים בעולם הזה. על ידי התמדה בלימוד התורה וקיום המצוות הנובעות ממנה, זוהי ההכנה הטובה והמתאימה ביותר לפרנסה בעתיד.
הרבי מבטיח שכאשר יגיע הזמן, יצליח בפרנסתו. הדרך הבטוחה לחיים מוצלחים היא דרך התורה, שהיא מקור הברכה לכל ענייני החיים. הרבי מוסיף שבוודאי יוכל להסביר זאת להוריו.
הרבי מייעץ, כדי לקבל סיוע נוסף מהשם יתברך, לתת צדקה בכל יום חול לפני תפילת שחרית, ולומר את שיעור התהילים היומי לאחר התפילה בכל יום, גם בשבת ויום טוב. כמו כן, טוב לקבוע שיעורים בחומש ובתניא.
הרבי מסיים בברכה לבשורות טובות, להצלחה בלימוד התורה ביראת שמים, ולקיום המצוות בשלמות, ומברך לחג פסח כשר ושמח.
