This is in response to your letter from Monday. At an auspicious time, your son... shlita will be mentioned at the holy resting place of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal, for what he needs, especially for improved health in the matter you wrote about. Certainly, a specialist doctor will be consulted regarding new treatments discovered in this field to see if they can be applied in this case.

After asking forgiveness, I must state the truth: in most cases such as you describe, it results from the fact that during the time when the mother was pregnant with this child, the laws and rules of family purity were not properly observed. If, G‑d forbid, this was so in your case, then to some extent it can help and rectify matters by now observing these laws as strictly as possible. Also, try to influence others to behave similarly. Hashem, Who sees into hearts and knows one’s resolve to act this way—both personally and by influencing one's surroundings—will send success in medical treatment to greatly repair what was mentioned above. When you do this fully, it will also bring complete healing. Hopefully you will find suitable words to explain this to your wife tichyeh. May it be His will that you should be able to report good news about this.

The tefillin and also the mezuzah should have been checked so that all are kosher according to halachah. Every weekday morning before davening give charity; and your wife tichyeh should keep the good custom of Jewish women to give charity before lighting candles on Erev Shabbos and Erev Yom Tov.
