במענה על מכתבו מה' כסלו, שנתקבל ז"ע (שכנראה הלך בדואר רגיל), בו כותב אודות הרצון להתקשרות לכה"פ ע"י מכתב וכו'.
והנה ידוע שקישור של שנים מבני ישראל ה"ז מוסיף ביכולתם יותר מכפלים של אפשרית של כל אחד, וכידוע מרז"ל בזה (סוטה לד, א), ואמיתית ההתקשרות היא של הנשמות, וכמבואר במ"ש רבנו הזקן בספר התניא שלו פרק ל"ב, ובענינים דתומ"צ, שתורתנו תורה אחת וענינה וענין המצות הוא להמשיך שיהי' ה' אחד ושמו אחד, גם בארץ, בעניני ארץ, עיין אגה"ק לרבנו הזקן ס' ט', ובזה הרי המקום אינו מפסיק, כוונתי בזה, שכאשר ההתקשרות תתבטא בהוספה בעניני תורה ומצות בכלל ובהמאור שבהם שנתגלה בדורותינו אלה ע"י תורת החסידות הדרכותי' ומנהגי', ה"ז התקשרות אמיתית, ופשיטא אשר ההוספה בתומ"צ מוסיפה בברכות השי"ת בהמצטרך לאדם וב"ב הן בגשמיות והן ברוחניות, ובפרט באיש משרת בקדש וכאומנות השו"ב שדורשת יראת שמים ביותר וביותר, כמבואר בכ"מ ומהם לאדמו"ר הזקן ואדמו"ר הצ"צ, כמבואר בשו"ע ושו"ת שלהם, ואין לך דבר העומד בפני הרצון.
בטח יודע משלשת השיעורים בחומש תהלים ותניא הידועים, אשר שמענו כ"פ מכ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, אשר שוים הם לכל נפש וסגולה לכו"כ ענינים.

Shalom u'Vrachah!
In response to your letter from the 5th of Kislev, which was received here (apparently sent by regular mail), in which you write about the desire for connection at least through a letter, etc.
It is known that the bond between two Jews increases their abilities more than double what each could achieve alone, as our Sages teach (Sotah 34a). True connection is that of souls, as explained by our master the Alter Rebbe in his Tanya, chapter 32. In matters of Torah and mitzvos—since our Torah is one Torah and its purpose and that of the mitzvos is to draw down that 'the L‑rd is One and His Name is One,' even on earth and in earthly matters (see Iggeres HaKodesh of the Alter Rebbe section 9)—in this, physical distance does not interrupt. My intent is that when the connection expresses itself through increased involvement in Torah and mitzvos generally, and especially through the light within them revealed in our generation via Chassidus—its guidance and customs—this is true connection.
It is obvious that increasing in Torah and mitzvos brings added blessings from Hashem for all one's needs and for one's family both materially and spiritually. This applies especially to someone serving in a sacred role such as a shochet u'bodek (ritual slaughterer), which requires heightened fear of Heaven, as explained in many places including by the Alter Rebbe and tzt"z, as detailed in their Shulchan Aruch and responsa. Nothing stands before willpower.
You surely know about the three daily study portions—Chumash, Tehillim, Tanya—which we have heard many times from my revered father-in-law the Rebbe zatzal nishmaso Eden—that they are suitable for every soul and are a remedy for many matters.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that genuine spiritual connection comes from shared growth in Torah and mitzvos—especially when illuminated by Chassidus—and assures that such efforts bring blessings both physically and spiritually.
