I acknowledge receipt of your letter—without indication of when it was written—and thank you very much for the stories about our Rebbeim, may their merit protect us. It is already well known and publicized, the talk of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe, that Sefer Bereishis comes first and serves as a preface and preparation for the books that follow. The precedence in Torah, including its order, is not just precedence in place and time but also as explained in Tanya chapter 36.

In connection with this, it is somewhat surprising that although you conclude your letter after the luminous day of Yud-Tes Kislev—the Rosh Hashanah for learning Chassidus and its ways—you do not mention anything about the farbrengen. Surely words of inspiration, Torah teachings, and Chassidic discourses were shared there. Certainly you will fill this in on another occasion, and may it be G‑d's will that its impression will affect the entire year—as expressed in the phrase "Rosh," which includes within itself and draws life into all the limbs (the days of the year), may they be blessed.
