במענה על מכתבו מי"ג אלול מבשר טוב מפתיחת שיעור בדא"ח בביהכ"נ חפץ חיים, ויהי רצון שלא יסתפקו בהפעולות דעת עתה, ויוסיפו עליהם כהנה וכהנה ובפרט עתה דעת התעוררות הוא ימי הסליחות והימים נוראים עליהם נאמר דרשו ה' בהמצאו קראוהו בהיותו קרוב, ומובן ופשוט שאין הנ"ל פוטר את המתעסקים בזה מהתמדה ושקידה בלימוד התורה וקיום המצות בהידור וכו' ובאופן דמוסיף והולך ומעלין בקדש ואין לך דבר העומד בפני הרצון, ויהי רצון שגם בזה יבשר טוב אליבא דאמת וגם על חבריו ישפיע בכגון דא.

In response to your letter from the 13th of Elul with good news about starting a class in Divrei Elokim Chaim at the Chafetz Chaim synagogue: May it be G‑d's will that you not be satisfied with your current activities but add to them even more, especially now during this time of awakening—the days of Selichos and the Days of Awe—about which it is said: 'Dirshu Hashem b'himatzo k'rauhu b'hiyoto karov' (Seek G‑d when He is found; call Him when He is near). It is understood and obvious that what was mentioned above does not exempt those involved from diligence and perseverance in Torah study and meticulous mitzvah observance, etc., in a manner of always increasing and ascending in holiness. There is nothing that stands in the way of willpower. May it be G‑d's will that you will also bring good news regarding this matter in truth, and that you will positively influence your friends as well.
