... וכיון שנכנסנו להימים אשר עליהם אמרו רז"ל שכל המוסיף מוסיפין לו, הנה יה"ר שיוסיף כאו"א בעניני תורה ומצות מוארים במאור שבתורה זוהי תורת החסידות, ויוסיף השי"ת בברכותיו בכל המצטרך לאדם וביתו.
והרי גם מתקרבים אנו לימי חדש הרחמים, הוא חדש אלול, אלו"ל ר"ת איש לרעהו ומתנות לאביונים, וידוע דרז"ל איש זה הקב"ה שנאמר ה' איש וגו' וקורא הוא לבני ישראל בשם אחיי ורעיי, ואפילו אלו שאין בהם - בגלוי - עניני הסוג דאח ורע, נכנסים הם ודאי בסוג השני דמתנות לאביונים, אביון - התאב לכל דבר, כי חסר הוא כל דבר - אשר - בלשון רבנו הזקן - בסבר פנים יפות ובפנים שוחקות ימלא השי"ת משאלות לבב כאו"א לטובה ולברכה בגשמיות וברוחניות.

... And since we have entered the days about which our Sages said: "Whoever increases is given more," may it be His will that each individual adds in matters of Torah and mitzvos illuminated by the light within Torah—that is, the teachings of Chassidus—and may Hashem increase His blessings for everything a person and his household need.
And we are also approaching the days of the month of mercy, which is the month of Elul. Elul is an acronym for "Ish L'Re'eihu U'Matanos LaEvyonim" (a man to his fellow and gifts to the poor). It is known from our Sages that "ish" refers to the Holy One, blessed be He, as it says: 'Hashem ish...' And He calls the Jewish people 'my brothers and friends.' Even those who do not—openly—have qualities of a brother or friend are certainly included in the second category of 'gifts to the poor.' A poor person is one who desires everything because he lacks everything—which, in the words of our Alter Rebbe—with a pleasant countenance and a smiling face, may Hashem fulfill each one's heart's desires for good and blessing both materially and spiritually.

Summary
The Rebbe teaches that entering Elul is a time to increase in Torah, mitzvos, and Chassidus. Doing so draws down greater blessings from Hashem for all our needs. Every Jew is included in this flow of blessing—both those who openly connect and those who feel lacking.
