Shalom u'Vrachah!
I acknowledge receipt of your letter from the second day of the Omer with its enclosure. The Paas newsletter you published for Pesach was also received. Of course, as you requested, the enclosed material will not be publicized.
Incidentally, in your letter you mention... Certainly it is unnecessary to remind you that in several of his books he fights against Chassidus and more, and in some matters even against faith itself. As the Mechilta says—not only against Moshe, servant of G‑d, but also against G‑d Himself (may He be merciful) and His Torah. Even those chapters that seem neutral can confuse minds in general and especially the youth in America regarding matters of belief—who knows if afterwards it will even be possible or feasible to set them on the right path?
I have already stated on another occasion that in America and generally in the Southern Hemisphere there is widespread ignorance—that is, a total lack of knowledge—not as it once was in Europe where even among free-thinkers there were at least mistaken ideas. Therefore, this is not the way—to use debates where one also mentions a false opinion just to prove its error and falsehood; there is no need for this at all. On the contrary—it causes great harm and confusion. This should be clear.
At an auspicious time I will mention all those about whom you write at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal. May it be G‑d's will that you have good news regarding them. Certainly it is unnecessary to emphasize that since they turned to you with requests, you should explain to them that as they increase in Torah and mitzvos—for Torah is a Torah of life and about its mitzvos it is said "and you shall live by them"—there will be an increase in fulfilling their heartfelt wishes regarding these matters.
With blessing for good news.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that repeating heretical ideas—even to refute them—can cause confusion and harm, especially among youth unfamiliar with Torah concepts. Instead, he urges focusing on positive engagement with Torah and mitzvos as the true path to spiritual fulfillment.
