כנוהג בחדשים האחרונים נתקבל מכתב כת"ר עם המוסגר בו היום בקר לפני נסעי על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע והזכרתי שם אותו ואת ב"ב שיחיו מתאים לתוכן המכתב...
ולהודעתו מיום הולדתו ה' שבט הבע"ל (ולהעיר מתוס' ב"מ ק"ו ע"ב) יה"ר שיגבר מזלו (וידוע הפירוש בתורת הדא"ח, אין - מזל לישראל) ותהי' שנה הבאה שנת הצלחה ובעיקר הענין דמרא דאתרא שרושם המרות יהי' ניכר באתרא ע"י החזקת היהדות והפצתה שם בכלל ובהפצת המעינות ביחוד כי מצות היום, היום אתינא (סנהדרין צ"ח סוף ע"א) הפצת מעינות הבעש"ט וממלא מקומו, וכידוע מאגה"ק אודות עליית הנשמה של הבעש"ט.

As has been my practice in recent months, your letter with its enclosure was received today before my departure to the holy resting place of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzukal l'havdil bein chaim l'chaim zichrono yagen aleinu. I mentioned you and your family there in accordance with the content of your letter... And regarding your notification about your upcoming birthday on the fifth of Shevat (see Tosafos Bava Metzia 106b), may it be G‑d's will that your mazal be strengthened (and it is known from Chassidus that "there is no mazal for Israel") and that the coming year be one of success—especially in the matter of being a mara d'asra (community leader), so that your leadership will be felt in your locale through strengthening Judaism and spreading it there in general, and particularly through spreading the wellsprings. For this is the mitzvah of our time—hayom atina (Sanhedrin 98a end)—the spreading of the Baal Shem Tov's teachings and those who follow him. As is known from Igros Kodesh regarding the soul elevation of the Baal Shem Tov.
