Struggles in Learning, the Yetzer Hara's Tricks, and Trust in Divine Providence

The Rebbe writes that feelings of failure in learning and lack of suitable friends are tricks of the Yetzer Hara. He encourages the recipient to recognize these as distractions and assures that following previous advice brings improvement, urging trust in Divine Providence.

B"H, 21 Shevat, 5716.

In response to your letter with the enclosed pan. Regarding what you write about your situation—that in your opinion you are not succeeding in your studies and do not have a suitable friend, etc.—I have already written about this, and my opinion is clear on all this. It is surprising that you do not see the truth: these arguments are tricks of the yetzer hara to confuse you from going on the good path before you, both materially and spiritually.

As for what you write about the health of your relative ... may she live—if you fulfilled what was written in my previous letter, it is certainly clear that there has been an improvement in her health.

May Hashem grant you to be infused with a spirit from Above to see Divine Providence with kindness and mercy in all the above.

Summary

The Rebbe teaches that doubts and discouragements in learning often stem from the yetzer hara's attempts to distract us. Recognizing this helps us stay focused on growth. Trusting in G‑d's guidance brings improvement both physically and spiritually.
