Shalom u'Vrachah!

In response to your letter from the 23rd of Kislev, in which you write that you saw a certain book of segulos (charms) which discusses palmistry and the like — keep away from such paths. If you specifically desire a book of segulos, there is a tried and tested segulah: our holy Torah. There is also a tried and tested wisdom: the wisdom of the L‑rd, with which one can unite through Torah study, especially in a wondrous way as explained in Tanya chapter 5; see there.

It has already been stated: Tamim tiheyeh im Hashem Elokecha ("You shall be wholehearted with the L‑rd your G‑d"), and some say (Ramban) that this is also among the 613 mitzvos of the Torah.

It is also understood regarding what you wrote about your activities within Tzeirei Agudas Chabad being almost nonexistent because you feel unqualified for it and your health does not allow it — both these reasons are refuted by Torah. About every individual it is said: Ve'ahavta l'reiacha kamocha ("Love your fellow as yourself"), which is a great principle in Torah. Since you are capable and your health allows you to act for yourself, it is a positive commandment from the Torah to do so for others as well. Therefore, the abilities are given to fulfill this regarding others. Lengthening on such an obvious matter is unnecessary; it's a pity to waste time debating such things. When you reflect honestly, you'll find many ways to spread the wellsprings outward and promote Judaism within Tzeirei Aguch in general.

As per your request, all those about whom you wrote will be mentioned at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal.

Regarding what you wrote about the special pleasantness found in reciting Mizmor Shir LeYom HaShabbat ("A Psalm, a Song for the Sabbath Day"), this can be explained according to what is taught both in Nigleh (the revealed aspect) and Nistar (the hidden aspect) of Torah — that at that time one receives the sanctity of Shabbat.

Blessings for good news in all matters mentioned above.

Summary

The Rebbe teaches to avoid superstitious practices like palmistry or charms and instead rely on Torah study as a true source of blessing. He encourages everyone to participate in outreach efforts and assures that each person has unique strengths to contribute.
