במענה על מכתביהם מכ"א וכ"ד כסלו עם המוסגר בהם ... אם יש לצרף עוד שם להשם הנקרא תו"ת או אחי תמימים.
הרי כיון ששמות אלו העיקרים נקבעו ע"י נשיאנו הק' ולמרות שנמצאו כבר עשיריות ישיבות, לא נשמע עוד אף במקום אחד שיצרפו עוד שמות, תמיהני למה לפב"פ להיות המתחיל בשינוי זה, ובפרט שהרי אפשר לקרות השם, ישראל, על איזה ענינים אחרים, כמו על הספרים או הבנין וכיו"ב, וביחוד שהרי ידוע ג"כ ע"פ נגלה שצירוף שני שמות על נושא אחד, אין הענין שכל אחד מהם נשאר גם בפני עצמו, אלא ששניהם יחד מהווים שם חדש (כדמוכח גם מענין השמות דכלה וחמותה המובא בשו"ת צמח צדק אבה"ע סוף חלק א).

In response to your letters from the 21st and 24th of Kislev with the enclosed matter... regarding whether to add another name to the existing names Tomchei Temimim or Achei Temimim. Since these principal names were established by our holy leaders, and even though there are already dozens of yeshivos, it has never been heard anywhere to add more names. I am surprised why you would wish to be the first to make such a change, especially since it is possible to use the name 'Yisrael' for other matters, such as for books or buildings and similar things. Particularly since it is also known according to Nigleh that when two names are combined for one subject, each does not remain independently; rather, together they form a new name (as is also evident from the matter of names for a bride and her mother-in-law brought in tzt"z responsa Even HaEzer at the end of part one).

Summary
The Rebbe writes that established yeshivah names set by our holy leaders should not be altered by adding new ones. Combining two names forms an entirely new identity rather than preserving both; therefore, additional titles should be reserved for other uses.
