זה עתה נתקבל מכתבו מיום השני, וממהר הנני לענות עליו מפני שנפתעתי להתחלתו, כי הרי מצוה מדאורייתא לבקש על אריכות ימים ושנים טובות, וכיון שמחוייבים בזה בודאי שטובה היא לא רק בגשמיות אלא גם ברוחניות, ושליחות להביא בקשה זו על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע הנני מקבל ברצון ובשמחה. אבל מה שכותב במכתבו הוא - הרי כבר ידוע אחד משלש עשרה העיקרים שמחוייבים שמחכים לביאת משיח צדקנו בכל יום, והוא יוציאנו מגלותנו ויוליכנו נשמות בגופים לארצנו הק' ת"ו, ובמילא אין מקום להשאלה ובקשה. והשי"ת ימלא הבקשה הרצוי', ויאריך ימיו ושנותיו בטוב ובנעימים ביחד עם זוגתו - שיחיו, ויפיץ עניני החסידות בכלל וענינים הקשורים בכ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר בפרט במחנו הט', אשר אז, ע"פ המבואר ומובן היטיב בתניא פרק ה' שהוא יחוד נפלא כו' ולא כערכו נמצא כלל בגשמיות, הרי נשמות בגופים מתאחדים יחד עם כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר ע"י תורתו והדרכותיו, שבם מסר ויהיב נפשו, ולא רק הנפש אלא גם רוח נשמה חי' יחידה, וכמובן גם מאגרת הקדש סימן ז"ך וביאורו.

Your letter from Monday has just been received, and I hasten to reply because I was surprised by its beginning. It is a Torah commandment to request long days and good years, and since we are obligated in this, it is certainly beneficial not only materially but also spiritually. Therefore, I gladly and joyfully accept the mission to bring this request to the holy resting place of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal.
However, regarding what you wrote in your letter—one of the thirteen principles is well known: we are obligated to await the coming of our righteous Mashiach every day. He will redeem us from exile and bring our souls in bodies to our holy land. Therefore, there is no place for such a question or request.
May Hashem fulfill your desired request and grant you long and pleasant days and years together with your wife—may you both live—and may you spread matters of Chassidus in general and those connected with my revered father-in-law in particular within our camp. As explained clearly in Tanya chapter 5—that this is a wondrous union not found at all in physicality—souls in bodies unite with my revered father-in-law through his Torah and guidance, into which he invested not only his soul but also his ruach, neshamah, chayah, yechidah—as is also evident from Iggeres HaKodesh section 27 and its explanation.
Enclosed is a booklet about the continuation of my revered father-in-law's imprisonment written by him; surely you will share its content with many, as the merit of the many depends on you.
