Shalom u'Vrachah!

In response to your letter—which was delayed in its arrival—

a) Regarding what you write once again about your doubts as to whether you are suited for your role and the demands of the institutions, etc.: I have already expressed my opinion on such matters to several who have asked—both from Anash and not from Anash—and I also wrote to you specifically in one of my previous letters: Upon the shoulders of every single one who remained as embers saved from the fire after the terrible period of decrees in our generation lies the task to also fulfill the role of our brothers and sisters who were killed al kiddush Hashem. And since the Holy One, blessed be He, only asks according to our strength—that is, each person's individual strength—it is certain that all the necessary strengths and opportunities were given from the outset. The matter depends only on one's will. Especially when one is already in a special field of work and sees success, it is clear and obvious that this does not mean that all one's strengths are being utilized; it does not even mean that one's strengths have been brought from potential into actuality. For free choice is given to every Jewish man and woman. Even though G‑d's request—after He says 'See, I have set before you life and good...and you shall choose life'—emphasizes both life and choosing. Therefore, we often see that a worker could work at a much greater level—and thus succeed much more—but does not utilize their abilities for various reasons. However, since the ability is given, it depends only on their will.

b) It is clear and obvious that every educator and teacher—and indeed every communal activist—must know that a primary part of their work is to establish helpers and assistants among their students and those they influence. For working with each individual in detail is too much for one person alone; but when together with their own work they strive to educate those among their students who are fit for this to fulfill part of their own role—the lesson regarding your work with your students is clear.

c) It is also clear that your plan to visit with your students an institution affiliated with a party whose activities are contrary to Chassidic teachings—and even Torah in general (such as mixed gatherings of boys and girls, among other matters which may not be so openly apparent but are fundamental)—may cause harm in essential matters even if there is hope it will benefit secondary matters compared to these fundamentals. It is impossible to explain to your students that upon entering such a place they should focus only on certain aspects while ignoring or rejecting other things present there.

d) In general, I do not see such a need specifically to visit this institution; what you seek can be found also in more religious institutions or by creating an example yourself without visiting questionable places.

e) Further to the above, I was pleased to read in your letter that some of the girls have developed an interest in guidance and education work among youth in D... Certainly you will nurture this movement within them, and it can be hoped that after not too long they will adapt to this work and succeed at it.

f) Surely it goes without saying how important it is to utilize vacation days from school by organizing an appropriate program for these girls during these weeks—many activities can be run outdoors under the open sky. There must already be experience from previous years making it easier now to know what was lacking then so as to add improvements. May Hashem grant you success with good news in all this—and especially as you devote yourself to pure education within Keren Chabad.

Awaiting good news,
On behalf of His Honor the Rebbe shlita,
Secretary

Summary
