In response to your letter from the 20th of Sivan and the previous one, with their enclosures: a) The pan (petitionary notes) enclosed in your letter will be read at an auspicious time at the holy resting place of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe. Surely you will also explain to each person mentioned that they should increase in Torah and mitzvos, for by doing so they add in G-d's blessings for all their needs—material and spiritual. Since the pan will be read at the resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, in order for there to be a connection—a channel and vessel—for receiving the blessings that are drawn down through his arousal of mercy, there must be some action connecting oneself with him. This is accomplished by regularly studying his teachings—at least his Chassidus—and by keeping his directives, at least regarding saying Tehillim after davening every day. As our Sages say: words that come from the heart enter the heart.

b) I was pleased that you organized a farbrengen with the students specifically in Brona—a place distant from Paris—similar to "Lech Lecha me'artzecha mibais avicha." Fortunate is the portion of all those who helped organize this event; please convey my thanks to them, especially to those mentioned in your letter: Mr. Yadletzki, Mr. Zilberman, Mr. Mordechai Miller, and Mr. Pinchas. May G-d increase His blessing to each of them in all their needs—material and spiritual.

c) I hope that the success of this project will inspire them to strive energetically to do similar things several more times over the summer—even if it takes a different form or content—the main thing being to prepare provisions for the students' journey during vacation days.

d) Regarding your notification that they will send their sons to yeshiva for the summer: this is correct. May it be G-d's will that it benefit their spiritual health and thereby also strengthen their physical health.

P.S. ... Surely you have encouraged the teachers to tell all their students ahead of time about Yud-Beis Tammuz; enclosed is a continuation of the list about the imprisonment which has just now been published.
