במענה על מכתבו מטו"ב סיון, בו כותב אודות עבודתו בבי"ס למלאכה בתור מדריך רוחני, ואשרי חלקו, כי כפי שקבלתי ידיעות מן הצד, נראה שינוי לטוב בהתלמידים מעת התחיל להתעסק בהנ"ל, הן בנוגע ללימוד והן בהנוגע לשמירת המצות. ואף שמובן שאין זה מספיק עדיין, הרי כיון שניכרת הזזה לטוב, ורק כל התחלות קשות, בודאי ישתדלו הוא וחבריו בעבודה קדושה זו להיטיב המצב עוד יותר, וחפץ ד' בידם יצליח. ויה"ר שיוכלו תלמידיהם לשמש דוגמא למופת מתלמידי בי"ס חב"ד.
ב) בהתאם להנ"ל מובן ג"כ, שכיון שאין הקב"ה מקפח שכר כל ברי' ומדתו של הקב"ה מדה כנגד מדה - הרי עבודתו זו תוסיף גם הצלחה בהנוגע למעמדו ומצבו הוא, בשלשת הקוים תורה, עבודה (שתפלה כנגד קרבנות תקנום) וגמ"ח (שכוללת - ענין המצות). ובקביעות עתים שלו בלימוד תורת הנגלה ותורת החסידות יראה הצלחה רבה, שבזמן מועט לפי ערך יצליח כבזמן מרובה ביותר, וכפירוש רבנו הזקן, אשר נעשים מוחו ולבו זכים אלף פעמים ככה.
ג) מכל הנ"ל מובן ג"כ, שאין לבלבל ולגרום פיזור הנפש על מחשבות של נסיעות למקום אחר. ובפרט - אם הכוונה להשתלמות בתורה ועניני', התלוים בסייעתא דשמיא הבאה ע"י ענינים הגורמים לסייעתא דשמיא, שאין לך ענין גדול מזה מלהוציא יקר מזולל, וכדרז"ל על פ"ז...
בברכת הצלחה מופלגה בעבודה האמורה לעיל ומתוך שמחה וכמ"ש עבדו את ה' בשמחה.

Shalom u'Vrachah!
In response to your letter from the 15th of Sivan, where you write about your work at the trade school as a spiritual guide—fortunate is your lot! As I have received information from others, there has been a noticeable positive change among the students since you began this work, both regarding their studies and their observance of mitzvos. Although it is understood that this is not yet sufficient, since there is already visible improvement—and all beginnings are difficult—certainly you and your colleagues will strive in this holy work to further improve the situation. The will of G-d will succeed through your hands. May it be His will that your students become exemplary models among Chabad school students.
b) Accordingly, it is also understood that since the Holy One does not withhold reward from any creature and His measure is measure for measure—this work will also bring you personal success in all three areas: Torah study, service (prayer established in place of sacrifices), and acts of kindness (which include mitzvos). In your set times for learning both revealed Torah and Chassidus you will see great success; within a relatively short time you will achieve as much as would normally take much longer—as explained by the Alter Rebbe: one's mind and heart become refined a thousandfold.
c) From all the above it is also clear that one should not become confused or distracted by thoughts of traveling elsewhere. Especially if the intention is for furthering Torah study and its matters—which depend on Divine assistance brought about by actions that elicit such assistance—there is nothing greater than bringing out preciousness from what seems mundane, as our Sages say on this verse...
With blessings for outstanding success in the above-mentioned work and with joy, as it is written: "Serve Hashem with joy."
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that true fulfillment comes from embracing one's current mission with joy. Positive influence on others brings both communal benefit and personal spiritual growth; distractions or seeking opportunities elsewhere should not undermine one's present sacred work.
