...And certainly it is unnecessary to repeat these matters; I only write to encourage someone who is already motivated: a) This is not the way—to resign from your work in matters of the beit midrash and synagogue. On the contrary, you must add strength in this.
b) Since the Holy One, blessed be He, requires each of us to pursue peace in the matter of Ahavas Yisrael, and specifically to fulfill 'VeAhavta LeRei’acha Kamocha' ("Love your fellow as yourself"), it follows that just as regarding oneself, 'Al kol peshayim techaseh ahavah' ("Love covers all transgressions"), so too at least a semblance of this must be present when fulfilling the commandment to love your fellow. Especially since no person can be completely certain of his own claims one hundred percent, for according to Torah—the Torah of Life—no one can testify about himself.
May it be G‑d’s will that you will soon inform me that there is peace in the synagogue and consequently also joy within your community...
Summary
The Rebbe teaches not to abandon communal responsibilities but to strengthen them. Promoting peace and Ahavas Yisrael is essential, and we should judge others with the same loving perspective we use for ourselves.
