לאחרי שתיקתו הארוכה נתקבל מכתבו מב' טבת. ונהניתי ממה שכותב דגם הם רואים שיש יכולת ואפשר להגדיל הישיבה ועניני' ביותר וביותר. ובפרט נהניתי ממ"ש אודות פתיחת הגן ילדים שגודל הענין בזה אין לשער וכידוע גם במרז"ל בענין הבל תשב"ר. ובפרט שבימינו אלה הנה גם לימוד האותיות והנקודות, ובהנהגות ביראת שמים - על מוסד חינוך לעשותם, כי לא תמיד יש לסמוך על ההורים, שהתעסקו בהנ"ל בזמן הש"ס ואפילו בזמן השו"ע ונ"כ. ומ"ש שיש מעצורים וכו' - הנה לפלא שכל מעצור עושה עליו רושם גדול כ"כ, אף שגם בעיני בשר רואים אז די שווערע איז מען שוין איבערגעקומען.
מה שכותב אודות היי סקול, הנה כיון שאינני יודע המצב על אתר קשה להורות בזה פרטים, ועליהם להחליט בהתאם לנקודה העיקרית והכללית, שמוכרח הדבר שתעשה ישיבת... מרכז ליהדות ותורה ויר"ש, וכל ענינים שיסייעו לזה - מבלי וויתור על עיקרי תנועת חב"ד - יש לעשותם ובמרץ. ובודאי סיפר להם הרב... שי' מעניני הסקול שיש כאן על יד הישיבה, שכנראה גם הסקול שכותב אודותה היא באופן כזה...
וע"פ הנ"ל מובן, אשר גם המענה על סיום מכתבו, שאם יהי' ספיקות באיזה ענינים - הרי אבן הבוחן לפתרונם הוא, שאי אפשר לוותר על עיקרי תכונות חב"ד, אי אפשר להעשות מפלגה איזה שתהי', אבל לולא זאת - הרי צריך להרחיב את המוסד הן בכמות והן באיכות. והשי"ת יזכהו ויצליחו שמתוך בריאות הנכונה יראה גם בעיני בשר, וכן כל אנ"ש שי', איך שישיבת... הוא הצנור הכללי להמשכת וקבלת ברכות השי"ת בגשמיות וברוחניות לכל אנ"ש וב"ב ד... ועל ידם לכל בני ישראל שם, שמצנור ודרך מרכזי זה מתפשטים צנורות ודרכים לכל אחד ואחד בפרט. וע"ד המבואר בכ"מ בדא"ח בענין ההמשכות מלמעלה לכל סדר ההשתלשלות.

After your long silence, your letter from the 2nd of Teves was received. I was pleased to read that you also see there is potential and it is possible to greatly expand the yeshivah and its activities. I was especially pleased by what you wrote about opening the kindergarten—its importance cannot be overstated, as is well known from our Sages regarding the breath of children learning Torah. Especially in our times, even teaching letters and vowels and instilling fear of Heaven—these are responsibilities for an educational institution, since one cannot always rely on parents as was done in Talmudic times or even in the era of Shulchan Aruch and its commentaries.
As for what you wrote about obstacles, I am surprised that every obstacle makes such a big impression on you, even though with our own eyes we see that quite difficult ones have already been overcome.
Regarding what you wrote about high school: since I do not know the local situation it is hard to give detailed guidance; they should decide based on the main general point—that it is essential to establish a yeshivah... a center for Judaism, Torah, and fear of Heaven. All matters that assist this—without compromising on core Chabad principles—should be pursued energetically. Certainly Rabbi... has told them about the school here near the yeshivah; apparently the school you write about is similar... Based on this, it is understood that my answer to your closing question—if there are doubts about certain matters—the test for resolving them is that one cannot compromise on Chabad's essential characteristics; one cannot become just another party or faction. But aside from this, it is necessary to expand the institution both quantitatively and qualitatively.
May Hashem grant you success so that with proper health you will see with your own eyes—as will all Anash—how this yeshivah... serves as the main channel for drawing down and receiving Hashem's blessings both materially and spiritually for all Anash and their families there—and through them to all Jews there—since from this central channel extend conduits and paths to each individual. This is as explained many times in Chassidus regarding how influences flow from above throughout all levels of creation.
