In response to your letter from the 24th of Kislev, it is quite surprising how brief you were regarding the farbrengen of the bright day of Yud-Tes Kislev, especially about the visit of those from outside. As our Sages say: "Gedolah Legimah Shemekarevet" (A meal brings people closer), this closeness enables them to become vessels for absorbing the wellsprings. It is evident that when one knows he must write to someone about such matters, it adds energy to his efforts—similar to what our Sages say: "If Reuven had known..." (Yalkut Shimoni Parshas Noach) [If Reuven had known that Scripture would record his actions, he would have carried Yosef on his shoulders to his father].

I am particularly interested whether my telegram regarding the men of valor was received in time and whether its few words were explained to them appropriately.

I am very pained that apparently the matter of the sheitels (Farouk) has only been moved slightly. It is well known that any arousal coming from outside must be utilized at the moment; otherwise, if time passes, it loses its effect.

Regarding what you wrote about financial difficulties: Is it truly impossible to obtain loans from Anash's gemach funds? (As I have heard, there is such a fund in Agudas Chabad under your leadership with Reb Dovid Ginzburg and two or three others in Jerusalem.)

It is already well known—the great caution and experience (and this appears at the beginning of every section of Shulchan Aruch): do not be embarrassed by mockers. Well-known things need no proof; however, when something is not customary—even if only for a side reason or due to force—it eventually becomes second nature, and then the situation does not awaken the necessary strengths because its seriousness is not felt.

It seems this also applies regarding matters concerning women and children and their education in general—many details are neglected even though we have seen firsthand the great destruction caused by lack of attention to women and girls. Additionally, as our Sages say in Shemos Rabbah: When giving the Torah, Hashem said: "So shall you say to Beis Yaakov first, then speak to Bnei Yisrael." The proof is that with regard to Adam's commandment it was not so—and this led to consequences for all generations.

Of course my intention here is not rebuke but rather that you should seek advice and words that clarify the situation as it truly is—even in areas where there has been no prior habit...
