במענה על מכתבו מד' וישב:
הכסף דצדקה צריך לחלק בממון הרגיל, ומה שכתבתי לו בענין הסלעים דפדיון הבן, הוא רק לדעת הסכום במטבע של מדינתם.
ב) בעניני צדקה בכלל וכן בעניני צדקה המדוברת - טוב לחלקם באופן שיגיע לכמה ענינים ולא לענין או לאיש אחד (עירובין סג, א). אלא שצדקה אודותה דברתי, צריכה להיות בהוספה על הצדקה שהי' רגיל לתת בלאו הכי, ולא לצאת בזה התחייבות לקופות של צדקה.
ג) במ"ש אודות חוות דעת רופא המומחה בהנוגע לאופן מניעת ההריון, יפנה בזה אל רבנים מומחים בעניני הוראה ויציע המצב לפניהם.
ד) מה שכותב במענה על הצעתי לקבוע שיעור לימוד בחסידות, שלומד מוסר וגמרא כו'. הנה בתורה ישנם כמה חלקים ובכל חלק שעוסקים יוצאים בזה מצות תלמוד תורה, אבל, נוסף על זה, ענינים מיוחדים ישנם לחלקים השונים אשר בתורה, שבהם אין חלק אחד דומה לחבירו, והוא ע"ד האמור בש"ס, להשליש הלימוד במקרא משנה ובגמרא. וע"ד מרז"ל הרוצה להחכים יעסוק בדיני ממונות, ובשביל להכיר את מי שאמר והי' העולם ילמוד אגדה. וה"ה בנדון דידן, ובסגולות לימוד פנימיות התורה, שאין באין לזה ע"י לימוד חלק אחר שבתורה, והשי"ת יצליחו לבשר טוב בכל הנ"ל.

In response to your letter from the fourth of Vayeshev: The money for tzedakah should be distributed in the usual currency, and what I wrote to you regarding the coins for Pidyon HaBen was only to determine the amount in your country's currency.
b) Regarding tzedakah in general and also regarding the specific tzedakah discussed—it is good to distribute it in such a way that it reaches several causes and not just one cause or person (Eruvin 63a). However, the tzedakah we spoke about should be in addition to the tzedakah you usually give anyway, and not instead of your regular commitments to charity funds.
c) Regarding what you wrote about the opinion of a medical expert concerning birth control methods—turn to rabbis who are experts in halachic rulings and present your situation to them.
d) As for what you write in response to my suggestion to set a fixed time for studying Chassidus—that you study Mussar and Gemara etc.—in Torah there are several parts, and by engaging in each part one fulfills the mitzvah of Torah study. However, beyond this, each section has its own unique qualities that are not found in another section. This is like what is stated in the Talmud: divide your study into Scripture, Mishnah, and Gemara. And as our Sages said: "One who wishes to become wise should engage in monetary laws; and to recognize He Who spoke and brought the world into being—let him study Aggadah." The same applies here regarding the special qualities of studying the inner dimension of Torah (Pnimiyus HaTorah), which cannot be attained through studying other sections. May Hashem grant you success to share good news about all of the above.
