Your letter from the 3rd of Kislev was received, and it is surprising that you wrote so briefly regarding the yeshiva and its situation. Nevertheless, the main thing is to increase efforts in practical matters for its growth and development—both materially and spiritually, both in quantity and quality. There is nothing that stands in the way of willpower.

This is especially true during these auspicious days, particularly on the bright day of Yud-Tes Kislev. As is known from the ruling of the Heavenly Court, because of this self-sacrifice—of our master the Alter Rebbe—for the teachings of Chassidus, in every matter of Torah, fear of Heaven, and good character traits, those who are connected to him and follow in his footsteps will prevail.

Enclosed is my response letter to Mr.... and his daughter. Certainly you will explain to his daughter the great merit she now has to be among those who break boundaries for good—that is, breaking negative customs or habits—regarding head covering and household conduct. She now has the opportunity to bring merit to many; then the merit of the many depends on her. As explained in Zohar Parshas Naso 126a, this also affects—in addition to the above-mentioned matters—issues of domestic harmony.

This matter abroad—when there is a breach—gives rise to concerns that previously did not exist in our country due to hardship and pressure.
